Can you mod one of our regulars over in S&C/F13

As far as I'm concerned, if the kind of moderation that actually occurs, was accurately described in the stickies, and we could anticipate it staying that way, I'd have no issue.

But that's just my own opinion.

Small suggestion if i may.

Ive seen it in the p&m threads, where a user took the time to make an "how to" thread, the thread ended up getting stickied and mods just added to it.

Maybe its worth to try?

You seem to have quite a few people whom respect you in this support thread, maybe a thread with clear guideline for whats proper and whats not, whitin the actual rules would be worth a try?

This.

And this.

It's not only porn that might harm 12-year olds, stupid workout-routines leading to injuries, physical ideals might lead to body image-issues and wrong information on weight-management can be very harmful as well.

And I do think, the forum should reflect the better ways to improve S&C, not the ones not working, hardly working or working by accident.
Sixpack-thread=4gif-link!

So why not contribute and make a set a rules, instead of stating its not working?

Most of the stickies in the plats were made by former plats whom are now mods, why not give it a try and see if it could work?

It is a serious answer, but still meant to be slightly comical. The stickies say "Don't! Don't! Don't!", but other than the f13-regulars with their gifs, VD-jokes and other mean things, nobody usually stops people from keeping such threads alive.

Whether or not you realize it, those gifs, VD-jokes and other mean things posted by the 'regulars' do just as much as anything else to keep those threads alive.

I see a reported thread about a forbidden topic and when I go look at it, a good many of the posts in there are this kind of thing coming from the regulars, and they don't seem to be too annoyed.

Bottom line is, S&C is your forums guys, if you are given such a leniency in managing your own forums, why not do it? Set of rules that people would abide by, bring it to DMF for approval, and see if you can work things out with the big guy.

yeah, but those stickies are fucking ridiculous. Imagine being a noob and faced with that.

I meant in the plat forum, visible to only plats. Cool vibe, laid back, best mma discussion on the site, perfect place to set up a dedicated s&c thread

Unlike the other members responding to this post, I am still a noob. I still regularly refer to the S&P FAQ to solve some issues I'm having. I have no issues, and in fact it is probably easier to navigate the stickies than to make a new thread, and it is quicker.

Such a thread would be a useful sticky.

However S&C already has an abudance of stickies, that I think need consolidating. So I believe that any benefit from more stickied information would be somewhat muted, often unnoticed among numerous other stickies. Although it could still be useful.

It works to a certain degree in the other forums. Knowing the consequences in advance of one's actions tends to act as a deterrent, at least in theory.

Getting users to read the stickies is another thing entirely, and that's where it all breaks down, cause the majority don't bother to read anything that they aren't compelled to, which means after the fact of them receiving an infraction.

To be honest I don't like the forbidden topic sticky. To be clear if I want to talk about Karl Gotch and his theory on strength and conditioning, would I be violating the "Matt Furey and other blowhard" rule?
I don't know.... the sticky seems pretentious and comes off that a blowhard is calling out a blowhard for being a blowhard.
Also the best advice I ever got during my powerlifting days were from powerlifters not from doctors. The best was from pt's or doctors who were powerlifters.
Anyway, just make someone responsible a mod. It is/was awesome that DRH keeps the haters under control in the pw threads.

A sticky situation, to say the least.

I think that part desperately needs to be redone. Urbs or another mod are the only people who can change it, though.

I still suggest making unread stickies have the blue cell background like the PM notification until read, more people would check them out, because it seems like something important is going on.

That's not going to work.imo. They will all get together and decide that change needs to happen and then they won't be able to change it because there is no one with enough stroke to enforce it. I see at least two guys posting here that could be a mod in that forum. Give him the mod role with the caveat that he better keep them in line because this topic has been raised at least 3 times this year.

But if you make a thread (locked preferably) which would include several stickies with proper information about the rules, and it was accepted by authorities on here.

You already have several stickies as guidelines, copy and paste and edit everything to what you would consider as proper guidelines, then run it by a senior mod or DMF?

I know its time consuming, but simply complaining about the stickies being all messed up and not doing anything about it, other than make a thread in support might not cut it. (wasnt reffering to you in the complaining bit).

It almost seems like lots are complaining, and everyone is expecting someone else to take care of it.

It could start with "US" is what im trying to say.

Lol, this thread is awesome. Regulars on f13 who constantly run their mouths to noobs, then ask for a mod. Then don't get their wish and storm off crying? Didn't know an internet forum could upset people so much.

I've learned a lot from f13 and think its a great site. And I know some people take their S&C seriously in that forum, which is awesome, it's a big part of my life as well. But if something like this upsets you, you have a fucking easy life.

BELPH FOR MOD!

A sticky situation, to say the least.

I laughed.

But I think some useful discussion has taken place here, and some good ideas were mentioned if S&C is going to stay more lightly moderated.

I'm not going to start a thread now, because I'm posting with my iTouch at work, and then going to the gym. But if no one else starts one by the I get home, I will.

Thing is, the stickies seem to be the problem here, not only the moderating, at some point Mods apply the rules, but you have to give them something proper to work with as well.

Exactly!

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of a large list of stickies where each sticky is pretty cumbersome.

The logs are pretty much where it's at in the S+C forum. You are going to run out of shit to talk about in the main forum. I'm a member on two other strength forums and it's the same shit rehashed or nothing at all. Every once in a while there will be a new thread with something interesting to discuss, but for the most part, you are going to stray OT or it gets stagnant. With the length of stickies, you pretty much narrow it down really small.
