Conor: “I need to be promoter to come back” conflict of interest?

Connie's crazy.

The last time someone tried to co-promote with UFC was M-1.

He's just shooting himself in the junk here.

Connie is a casual's idol.

To casuals, a fighter is only as good as their last fight.

So many "fans" have already jumped ship after he got paddled by Mayweather, just like they did after he lost to Nasty Nate.

He's digging himself into a hole where his negotiation power is drastically lessened, which isn't good seeing as he's been spending the money he made like crazy.

I'm with Conor 100%

He is the only one left that will sell 1mil+.

Time to get paid.

Ownership stake or bust.

The need to strip him, his attitude is all wrong. Why is he talking about "coming back?" He never retired. You don't get to take a break, then make demands for your return. He's a clown.

I don't care what they pay him, but there's no reason a fighter needs to be part-owner as well....
its not about need, its about knowing his worth to the company. Suppose the UFC refuses his demand, then he will just retire from MMA. He can afford to because he can make money off his name in various other ventures. Where does that leave the UFC? With no million ppv talent and growing debt obligations they can't meet. Conor has all the leverage right now.

He's been saying he was going to be part owner of the company from day 1. Why deny him?

TBH......the conflict of interest that hurts the sport is already there.....

Even without him as a partner, the UFC lets him do as he pleases because they will make more money with him than without him....

It is putting money before the actual athletic competition.....

If its going to happen anyway, then i dont see it creating a new conflict of interest.....

The media will be WAY more critical of any undeserved favorable matchups for Mcgregor if he is given any ownership stake in the UFC at all.....

It might not be a good move.....he can just demand the extra cash (which lets be honest, is what this all is about) without asking for a stake in the company.....

He is in a position of leverage right now.....

I find it kind of weird that some people on here are so quick to question a fighters decisions when they are in a position of leverage, but they NEVER complain about the company abusing positions of leverage.....

Ufc and Dayna have never let a conflict of interest or presence of bias stop them before.

conor is smart. all major boxers have their own promotion that at the very least co-promotes (canelo, ggg, mayweather, pac, cotto, etc).

ufc is small time. no reason for conor to put up with it anymore.

Seriously, he is excellent and a lot of fun, but not nearly enough to warrant turning the LW division and sport into Shark Tank.

The business over fighting gets old, no matter how good a talker you are.

Conor became popular as he lived up to his talk fighting anyone, and performing. But as time goes on there's only more talking and less fighting, and now it is all about money.

yea im sure you said the same thing when Conor "retired" before UFC 200 but look how that turned out...

Conor did big buisness at Madison Square Garden while 200 went to shit, got his double belts, and here we are again...

NSAC under Lorenzo Fertitta: You got the votes! Come in to the commission meeting so we can sanction this ruleset for this great new sport!

SEG: Alright! Thanks, guys! Ill see you at the meeting!

NSAC under Lorenzo Fertitta: (at NSAC meeting) Yeah....after review, we've decided not to sanction this sport. It just seems too dangerous despite Jersey already sanctioning it.

UFC value plummets overnight all the way down to 2mil....

Dana White on behalf of Lorenzo Fertitta: The Fertitta Brothers would like to buy your company for 2 million despite the fact that it didn't get sanctioned.

SEG: What a shocker! Here, take the fuckin thing, we dont have the money to go around trying to get it sanctioned if Vegas wont saction it.....

Lorenzo Fertitta: Pleasure doing business with you gentleman.

Sells a decade later for 5 billion.....

Strip that mo-fo and cut him.

lmao

Match 'em up with Diaz the Russian kid or a rematch with Halloway (+) let him promote it and get knocked out underneath his own fucking banner

Who gives a fuck? Conor does bigger numbers then anyone ever, but the UFC was in even better shape before he blew up. His desperation to be MMAs Floyd is ruining the sport. He can fuck right off! In the long run the UFC will be better off. Maybe they can get back to having a bunch of popular fighters again
Exactly. Even when Lesnar was around, the UFC still promoted other fighters. It has to move away from making the current cash cow being their only interest. Get the fans to be interested in a dozen fighters and it will only strengthen the company because as promoters, the UFC has really dropped the ball the last few years in this respect. Yes Mcrgegor does great numbers but the UFC has left everybody else alone and PPVs have reflected this.

Hire a few ESL teachers, public speaking teachers, hell send everybody to Toastmasters or hire Bull Durham. I don't like Mcgregor's personality and think it is a shame that his antics draw numbers, (but whatever the UFC doesn't miss me opting out of his events) but promoting the dicks in the world gets tiring fast and will only cost you in the long run.

Does anybody (or the UFC) really think the next foul mouthed gimmick is going to attract a new bunch of casuals?

Conor is barely top 5 at LW.

Let him go beg Mayweather for a rematch.

Is he asking for equity, or is he just wanting to co-promote his fights under the McGregor banner?

He's talking out of his ass is what he's doing. He will definitely want more money, though. As a promoter, he has no likely future. Even Mayweather's influence will dry up once he's been retired for some time. Big difference between leveraging your fame to make big bucks and actually establishing a stable company which can stand on its own foundation.
