Opinion Democratic Party Leadership Is Moving Away From Bernie Sanders

I never said he had support from them but they could not avoid him he represented nearly 55 percent of the party. He was not someone you wanted to avoid because so many Democrats liked his message.

The DNC voted in a by-law that gives them the power to END ANY campaign that does not fall in line with the DNCs message. Thus, there will NOT be a repeat of 2015, they no longer need to collude with the media to undermine anyone...they can just force them to stop running now.

And all while saying that it is Trump that is the biggest threat to Democracy.

On the contrary. He looks like more of a leader on the important issues while the DNC just flails around hoping Trump and Russia are enough to win them seats and the general. The DNC is trying to disassociate from him because their neoliberal corporatist machinations don't jive with Sander's populist positions.

^^^ FACT

Bernie Sanders represents the Socialist heart and soul of the Democratic Party.

One name people don't talk about Michelle Obama. Scary thought because Barack recently joked about how hard it would be to get Medicare for all passed the Senate.

"According to the results of a new Gallup poll, more Americans admire former First Lady Michelle Obama than they do former presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, marking the first time in 17 years that Clinton does not top the list of the country’s most admired women."

How the heck did Hillary get most admired woman status for 17 years.

Sanders is losing support among his own. to beto to be specific. how is he going to compete against a guy who does his thing better than him and is decades younger with minority support?

The anti-Sanders propaganda campaign has begun.

How does Beto do his thing better than Sanders does? Exactly?
And Beto will never have Sanders' record, so I highly doubt Sanders' supporters will jump ship for Beto.

Sorry to bring old posts up, but can somebody enlight me what the heck “Watch the needless flames” means?
I searched for it and it brought me here... it must be written somewhere...
If I called you a name or made fun of you without contributing to the topic of the thread, that would be a needless flame and trolling.
Also, if you said something relatively uncontroversial, it would be needless flaming if I called you a ***** or a ***** ***** ***** which would be kind of unwarranted and over aggressive. Make sense?

But I'm not a mod am I @Peteyandjia?

As much as I appreciate his ideals and truly wanted to see Trump v Sanders in 2016, I am not at all surprised the DNC want to distance themselves from him. First because him and the party elite are so far apart ideologically. Secondly simply because of his age. If elected he'd enter the white house at 79 years old. Which would make him the oldest person ever elected to the position by a wide margin.

Still not sure why. I always assumed you'd turned it down.
I would :D, but it would be nice to get the offer, maybe a tour of Command Center 1 and a reach around for time served on the front lines.

because he can rally the base better than bernie. Bernie can rally the antihillary crowd and some white voters that arent dems but he never got over with everyone else. he did terribly with nonwhite voters. Read the article.
But the first surveys of Iowa caucusgoers indicate he has lost some of his less-ardent backers. He is polling in the teens there even though he has universal name recognition and won nearly half the state’s vote in the Democratic caucuses in 2016. And while he is in second place at the moment, he is closer to Mr. O’Rourke, who was virtually unknown outside Texas until this year, than he is to the early front-runner, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

Further, the political consulting firm led by three of Mr. Sanders’s top digital aides from the last campaign — Kenneth Pennington, Hector Sigala and Elizabeth Bennett — worked for Mr. O’Rourke’s Senate bid and are hoping to work on his presidential campaign should he run, according to a Democratic strategist familiar with the firm’s thinking.

Two veterans of Mr. Sanders’s 2016 campaign, Becky Bond and Zack Malitz, were instrumental this year in helping to organize Mr. O’Rourke’s race against Senator Ted Cruz. Both said they are eager to be a part of any “Beto for President’’ effort.

“I don’t know if Beto is going to run, but if he does I’m all in,” said Ms. Bond.

Mr. Malitz added: “I want Beto to run and would want to work on that campaign.”

It's an eye opener that's for sure.

That's just more propaganda. Saying he only appeals to anti-Hillary voters is the mindset that got us Trump. He didn't do as well with nonwhite voters because of name recognition, the concentration of non-whites in early primaries, the MSM saying Sanders never had a chance and the fear mongering that only HIllary could defeat Trump.

What evidence do you have that suggests Beto can rally the national base better than Sanders? His loss to Ted Cruz? There is none.
And a lot the article is common practices (some people not committing to a candidate who hasn't declared his nomination isn't news) and old data; they're comparing Beto, who the MSM has been propping up for the last 6 months to Sander's who came out of the blue and got no coverage at the very beginning of his campaign.

I'm a leftist and Ive liked Bernie for a long time. He will never go over with minority voters he doesn't have what hillary and obama had. if obama comes out and supports beto its over. he could do it earlier than before. not to mention California will be a bigger player in politics in two years. I think dems will be eager to back someone sooner rather than sit back and watch a fight drone on.

Lol, his town halls are doing bigger numbers then fox news and CNN.

Wonder if this piece has anything to do with this piece.

Sanders Among Few US Lawmakers to Condemn 'Horrific' Israeli Attacks on Unarmed Gaza Protesters

Though many U.S. lawmakers chose to stay silent on Monday as Israeli forces massacred Palestinian protesters in Gaza, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was among those speaking out to condemn the violence—which Amnesty International warned may amount to "war crimes"—as he also called for the United States government to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, instead of sanctioning the intensification of it.
