Opinion Do you agree with the other party/side on any issue ?

Lots. Never voted Conservative in my life (never will, I'm British by the way) but I do lean Conservative on a good few topics.

However much I hate the Left - which I do:

- Gay Marriage
- Gay adoption
- Abortion

I'm totally fine with.

Abortion - I’m in between pro choice and “let me outta here so I don’t have to decide this.

Climate change - Neutral. I’m not a damn scientist and I don’t think I can help figure this one out. So I stay out of it.

Guns - yeah I also wish there wasn’t so many damn guns in America either. But it’s too late for any world leader to say, “hey ya’ll give them up. We’ll bring a truck by around 5:00pm and just toss em all in the back”.

About the same with me. Just wish for more options in our government. 2 VIABLE parties is just not enough. I want to mix and match...

I agree with the GOP on on a lot of financial/economic issues. It's their solutions to those problems (e.g. bottomless military spending but abolish the department of education) and their part-time commitment to those issues (e.g. don't send out that socialist money until Donald Trump's signature can be placed on the checks) that I find pretty gross.

I think the "trade war" with China was necessary and will be necessary again in the future.

I think that many liberals and progressives agree that we should have more rigid control over who gets into this country, but we disagree on the specifics.

I agree with conservatives that the 2nd ammendment can protect you from the government and I think the protests at Stone Mountain and the Michigan State House prove that. I just disagree with them about the specifics of the ammendment. For example, i feel more strongly about personal responsibility for firearms than the typical conservative seems to, and believe that the 2nd ammendment has limitations the same way the 1st does.

Bipartisan programs like social security, Medicare, veterans affairs.

Support the national parks!

Also I think funding NASA is popular on all sides. People of all age race and creed wanted to be astronauts growing up and I see people wear clothes with NASA logos all over places.

Wouldn't believing in those things and then voting for Trump being thinking for his self? He doesn't have to do what you think a liberal should that's the whole point

Sigh. Partisanship is a learning disability. Read his post again.

huuuhh??
That was your chance to pick that apart piece by piece (if you really believed how you lazily summed it up) each point Holmes made.

but instead you essentially just typed “eh nuh uh BS nah!”

Not what I typed. Do you think a sane person can even communicate with someone who thinks like that?

If we are looking at long term impacts of Regan Bush Sr, W, and Trump a very good case can be made that those were massive mistakes. SR probably being the one with the least impact on the nation.

Clinton? He was basically a right winger who supported abortion. Obama was Dubya 2.0 on foreign policy.

I don't agree with the antiracist and "white fragility" brand of social justice that popped up several years ago. I think it harms more than it helps and that a lot of these people are grifters. Much more of a fan of MLK style activism.

I don't think trans women should compete in women's sports.

There's some virtue signaling from the right about censorship but I've found that when they have the power they support censorship as well. I don't think either side genuinely cares about free speech. Which is a shame because when I was a kid there were a lot more free speech warriors on the left. Social media has changed that.

I'm not a fucking idiot, so I will vote for the party who has the best policies.

Well, this thread played out about like I expected . . . but I guess I'll add my two cents.

Depending on the issue I'm slightly left or right.

I might disagree with the abortion on some level, but I don't think it should be illegal. I think it should always be an option in the cases of incest, rape or when the mother's life is at risk. If there's another medical reason for it to be done then it should be available.

I think catering to a small percentage of our society (trans) is ridiculous, but they're people too and whether we agree with what they're doing if they're legal adults it's up to them.

I think basic healthcare should be available to all who need it.

I think college shouldn't cost an arm and a leg, but should also be provided at government expense for various degrees in return for those who get those degrees working for the government as a payback for a time.

I don't think I need to say where I stand on the ridiculous notion of gun control.

I think we should greatly limit the amount of foreign aid and interference of the US and try to focus on our own issues for a time.
