"I’m going to embarrass him, put him on his back, knee on belly & hand on throat" --- Tony Ferguson

El Cucuy is winning this fight.

He’s bat-shit crazy and truly believes all these things he’s saying. That’s what makes him so great. The fact that he is crazy. How many people are wanting to fight Khabib as badly as Tony does since Khabib jumped onto the scene? Nobody.

Just keep doing what you’re doing Tony. It’s gonna be a damn war.

This might just be one of if not the best LW fight of all time on paper.

I understand why people hate El Caca...dude is a vile person. From the shite he pulled on TUF to the nonsense that he spews from that point leading up to this fight. But many shertards love that type of behavior.

FFS.

Tony issued a very long, obviously heart felt apology after the TUF situation. I realize sometimes apologies come across hollow, but if you actually READ his apology, he's not saying it just to not have everyone hate him. He legit knew he was out of line and had real remorse for saying the stuff he did.

After that, what has he actually done that's much different than anyone trying to hype themselves up and garner some attention in a sport where you pretty much HAVE to do it if you want to make any real $ in the sport.

I know a lot of clowns think that as long as they call others "Shertards" they all of a sudden gain some sort of higher ground, but the reality is it doesn't give you even a shred more credibility.

Tony is a weird guy, no doubt. Different type of dude. But acting like he kicked your dog or personally insulted you is just petty.

If you or anyone else care (and you probably don't, because you have it all figured out and your mind made up), here's what Tony said about the TUF incident afterwards:

"Now, let me talk about what happened in the house.

You first have to understand we started drinking not long after we had just got done fighting. We had also done the semi-final picks. I think part of me brought the fight home since my real fight with Ryan ended so fast. When you bring alcohol into the mix, it was just bad from there.

We all drank a lot. It started out with shots of Patron and moved to Jim Beam. Miller Lites were mixed in the entire time. We weren't just drinking to relax. We were going hard core. Everyone was drinking, too, although maybe not as much as some of us.

Things got out of hand fast. My adrenaline was still going. Things were beginning to escalate around me. They didn't show this, but Shamar Bailey got pissed after Ramsey started dancing on him. That helped to set things in motion.

Throughout the show, I tried to keep calm and poised. I excused myself from a lot of conversations or just insane bulls--t. I was trying to stay focused.

That all went away fast. Charlie Rader poured water on my head, but at the time I thought it was beer. I couldn't understand why he would do something like that, even as minor as it may seem now. I had a short fuse. I'm usually not like that. When I saw myself, it was honestly kind of creepy.

Unfortunately, everyone saw The Boogeyman came out. That's a side of my personality I usually only see in the cage, but somehow Charlie brought it out in real life. Something just snapped and I thought "This guy is your enemy now". Rather than try to bring people close to me, I was pushing everyone away.

Why did I bring up Charlie's son? I have no idea, but I have a guess. My birth father wasn't there for me growing up. Somehow Charlie's situation mixed in with my adrenaline from fighting and the booze all worked together to bring up my own issues. I learned a lot about myself watching that on tape and how I felt about certain things in my life. I was under a lot of pressure, I was trying to bottle up frustration and it didn't work. Well, it worked for a while, but ultimately did not.

I said some things I shouldn't have said. I was in a weird place. I was having crazy dreams in that house. The entire experience took me out of my own independence and removed all of my release valves.

I really regret saying what I said to Charlie and we've talked about it since the incident. I've spoke to Clay Harvison and Chuck, too. We are in a better place now than we were that night.

Part of me feels like this is what the producers wanted. Every season there is someone who cracks. It sucks it had to be me, but I've never lived in a house full of fighters competing against each other. That alcohol is also there for a reason. Maybe subconsciously I needed that to happen so I could fight Charlie and Chuck who were my friends in the house at the time.

The really weird part was how drunk I got. When I woke up the next morning, I didn't remember much. I had a scar on my left arm, didn't know where it came from. I started cleaning up and was basically none the wiser. But no one wanted to talk to me and who can blame them?

The last I will say is maybe all of this is related to me growing up angry. I only met my father two years ago. But I never wanted to bore anyone with my stories. My attitude was that no one cares about my problems, so I'll just keep them to myself. That didn't work, but that's what I was working with when I was in the house at that time.

I'm sorry to all who I disappointed, but I want you all to know I haven't had a drink at all during this camp. I'm training hard and staying on track. I'm living a healthy life, physically and emotionally. Thanks for all of the support over these past few weeks and watching me fight."

Love to see Khabibs smirk when told he was gonna be held down w/knee on belly.
Me too. Can just picture it, a little head shake and "something something bullshit".

Tbf, it looks like Khabib is immune to Tony's antics, on stage, off stage, social media etc.
Can't fault Tony for trying though. There is also the possibility he does it as much to amuse himself.

I like both these guys.

Dont forget neither one had to fight each other.

Khabib had TS on lock being #1 for two years (Conor stepped over him and went running with baby excuses)

Khabib said I want toughest Tony.

Tony also signed to fight Khabib after being interim champ immediately when conor flaked.

Both these guys know it's destiny. Best vs best and happy to have to fight to determine the LW GOAT.
There is very good chance one of them will not show up. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I believe him.

Khabibs first 5 round fight is going to become a nightmare.

And still.

I’ve never witnessed any indication of Khabib running out of gas. Have you? Honest question.

Wouldn’t it be “and NEW undisputed LW champion” since this will be for the undisputed title?

its certainly i can't believe there are people who think this is a gauranteed win for Khabob
Fergusion has the cardio, strength, versatility, durability to match him

I actually think Khabib could get derailed. We all disregard the Tibau fight (Which he should have lost) by saying: It was ages ago, he's a different fight now, but is he? Really?

I don't think he's developed at all. And who has he faced since? Strikers and lower level talent. He's been in favorable fights ever since. Fights which haven't allowed him to show any growth.

Do I think he beats Conor? Honestly, probably. But I doubt he ever gets the fight. I think he loses to Tony, and that'll be the end of that. Unfortunately, I don't think Tony can get past Conor. I think he gets lit up and beat badly. He's very hittable and will likely go down long before he has the chance to wear Conor down.

Against Khabib however, his wrestling is strong enough to limit the TD's, his striking is far above anything Khabib is capable of on the feet and his ground game will limit virtually any damage once the fight goes to the ground. In fact, I think while Khabib might start strong, he's eventually going to get beat down badly.

I'm really tired of hearing this, Tibau was able to stuff all of Khabib's takedowns but he still lost every other aspect of the fight. Nobody has neutralized Khabib like Tibau did but that doesn't make him a winner. Both guys did minimal damage but Khabib had the aggression and control + landing some glancing strikes and clearly finishing stronger which matters in a close fight.

Erm no. Tibau landed more significant strikes in every round. More total strikes. More head strikes. And more TD's total. The only argument is whether Khabib won round 2. That's all.

I'm rooting for Cucuy, but I really don't see that happening in this fight.

I'm with you AB. I'm rooting for Ferg but, I don't see any way he wins this fight aside from Khabib gassing, which is a possibility in the later rounds.

And I'm usually willing to give every opponent a fighting chance, but fuck me... this is a tough one.

This one is killing me to predict.
But I don't think Khabib will gas unless his weight cut is hell, which it seemed OK vs Barbosa. He will be chatting to Dana about the how McNuggets can wait in line as he does just enough GNP on Tony's face to keep the fight on the ground. I don't see Tony being effective with BJJ, Bib will just pass guard at will.

Khabib has ABSOLUTELY slowed down in round 3 of fights, even fights he completely controlled. RDA he slowed noticeably. Even the Barboza fight, look at his post fight interview. He's breathing really hard.

Don't get me wrong, it's over the top to say he has a bad gas tank (he doesn't). But he's never been past round 3, and his output has fallen off at times around the 12 to 13 minute point of fights.

Tony has never slowed even a little, in fact he increases his output as the fight goes on. That said, he's never been totally controlled and beaten on for 10 straight minutes either. If that happens, we'll see. But the fact he was so fresh at Mexico City elevation (where even the tiny guys were gassing in 3 round fights) tells me Tony has cardio that just won't wilt, regardless of circumstances.

Tibau outlanded Khabib and more media outlets scored it for Tibau. Whether you're "tired of hearing it" or not, Tibau probably won that fight.

In the big scheme of things, does it really matter other than for Khabib to be able say he's still unbeaten? Nah, not really. Khabib has altered his game to use much more chain wrestling and rely less on explosive double or single legs.

But acting like Khabib clearly won that fight is just ridiculous. Was it a "robbery"? Nah, I've seen way worse decisions. But Tibau probably should have gotten the decision.

The more Tony talks the more I like him. This might have pushed me over the top.
I'm now on board.
WAR Tony.

I've watched the fight several times, I don't know what you're seeing. People have elevated expectations for Khabib and his failure to live up to those expectations account for your confusion. You cant find a sequence of effective offense by Tibau in that fight, not sure how someone can win a fight just by defending takedowns.

Not sure how someone can win a fight by constantly going for takedowns and failing.
I haven't watched that fight in over a month but I saw it roughly as 10/10 for 2 rounds and 10/9 for Tibau in one of the rounds.
I recall Tibau actually managing 2 takedowns and Khabib managing none. I also recall Tibau landing more clean strikes. Khabib was very lucky to win that one.
