Josh-Brolin-White-Background-Dragonlord.jpg

Seven years after they first collaborated on No Country for Old Men, Josh Brolin has signed on to reteam with the Coen brothers once again on Hail, Caesar!, which Universal Pictures has acquired for worldwide distribution, the studio announced Monday. Oscar winner George Clooney is set to star in Hail, Caesar, which Joel and Ethan Coen will direct from their own original screenplay.

Hail, Caesar! is a comedic period picture set in the 1950s that follows Eddie Mannix, a Hollywood fixer who works for the studios to protect their movie stars (and their squeaky-clean reputations) from gossip rags and jealous rivals eager to expose salacious scandals. The Coens will also produce under their Mike Zoss Productions banner alongside Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan of Working Title Films.

Brolin is on quite a roll. He recently joined Emily Blunt in director Denis Villeneuve

James Cameron and 20th Century Fox have set Sigourney Weaver to return in the director's three Avatar sequels in a different role. The filmmaker begins production later this year. She joins previously announced cast returnees Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang.

“Sigourney and I have a long creative history, dating back to 1985 when we made Aliens. We're good friends who've always worked well together,so it just feels right that she's coming back for the Avatar sequels," Cameron said in a statement. "Her character of Grace Augustine, as fans know, died in the first movie, so she's playing a different and in many ways more challenging character in the upcoming films. We’re both looking forward to this new creative challenge, the latest chapter in our long and continuing collaboration," he continued.

The as-yet-untitled Avatar sequels will be filmed back-to-back. The first will be released in December 2016, with the second to follow in December 2017 and the third a year later.

To me, Hercules looks like a pretty good movie. Hoping it lives up to my own personal hype, and judging by the trailers, I think it will.

Excited for Pacific Rim 2, and VERY happy they are keeping Jax Teller in it.

Big Hero 6 will be awesome, can't wait!

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Movie Coming from Sony and Sega

zixe6b.jpg

Sony and producer Neal Moritz are bringing the best-selling Sega video game Sonic the Hedgehog to the big screen. The studio is teaming with Japan-based production company Marza Animation Planet, a division of the Sega Sammy Group, to make a hybrid computer-animated/live-action feature.

Upright Citizens Brigade alums Evan Susser and Van Robichaux are writing the screenplay, which will follow the antics of Sonic, the world's fastest hedgehog. The film will also feature some of the franchise's favorite characters including the evil Dr. Eggman. Sony-based Moritz (22 Jump Street) is producing through his Original Film banner.

Sonic the Hedgehog appeared in 1991 on the Sega Genesis in his very own video game, but it didn’t take long to spawn numerous sequels, comic books, and a host of animated series; there’s even a new one in the works called Sonic Boom that’s destined for Cartoon Network.

First Footage from David Ayer's FURY Starring Brad Pitt

206juas.jpg

Sony has released the first footage from writer/director David Ayer's (End of Watch) World War II tank film Fury by way of a behind-the-scenes featurette. The story takes place in 1945 as the Nazi regime is in collapse and revolves around the five-man crew of an American tank called "Fury", led by Wardaddy (Brad Pitt), that battles a desperate German army. While we’ll have a better idea of what to expect tonally when a genuine trailer hits, this first look is extremely promising. All involved seem to emphasize that this is a character piece, and the fact that it’s an original story allows Ayer the freedom to explore whatever avenues he’d like. The film also stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal, and Jason Isaacs. Fury opens in theaters on November 14th.

Synopsis: Fury is set at the very end of World War II, in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
