Naoya Inoue, the best teenage prospect?

Fights Sano tonight,/today. IF you have Fuji TV the televised card is on at 19:00 local time.

Rumour is that Ryota Murata may also appear on the card (but that is merely rumour and unconfirmed!)

What a shot. This guy will probably get to 25-0 before he ever gets a challenge though.

Hahahahaha that's not how they do it in Japan. Look at Ioka, Nashiro, Shingaki, Koki Kameda etc etc. I can't think of too many who had to wait that long for a world shot.

Ioka is a good example. The others, not so much.

Ioka won a title in fight #7
Shingaki fought for a title in fight #6-won one in his 8th
Nashiro won a title in fight #8
Kameda won a title in fight #12

All great examples when you look at the fact they don't let them wait years for their chance.

Some more-
Akira Yaegashi fought for a world title in his 7th bout (won one in his 17th)
Yoko Gushiken won a world title in fight #9
Hiroki Ioka won a world title in fight #9
Kenji Yonekura fought for one in fight #7
Yamato Mitani fought for one in fight #9

If a manager sees real talent in a young fighter in Japan they don't wait to throw them in tough now a days. Last "long term" top level fighters were Nishioka and Naito. Nishioka got his first title fight in his 24th bout (he entered 20-2-1) and won in his 39th (with a record of 31-4-3). Naito got his first chance in his 22nd bout (entering 19-0-1) and won in his 35th (entering 30-2-2).

I think I can take this kid.

Should have seen him fighting today, sensational. Sadly the only video on youtube doesn't really do his victory over Sano justice but you should watch it anyway:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzAY5k1xUGY

Dominant display by a fighter who is without an equal at the moment in terms of talent for someone with so few fights.

Prior to today he was #32 with the WBC, Sano was #33 I'd be shocked if Inoue didn't jump to the mid 20's ranking after today's bout.

Well Ioka fought very good fighters on his path. That was my point. Not the title aspect. Those dudes were fighting for titles against mediocre competition. Not Ioka. My only point

How old is he again? He fights at 108 right?

I'm turning pro within the next 2 years. I'm 16.

He's 20 and fights at 108 or 112

You what?
Nashiro had defeated Martin Castillo for the title and had already gone through former national champion Prosper Matsuura, the then national champion Seiji Tanaka and former 2 time world challenger Hidenobu Honda.

Shingaki had faced Dodie Boy Penalosa and former title contender Yong-Hyun Kim in his first 6 bouts!

Yaegashi fought some poor fighters but no way can you tell me, with a straight face that Eagle Den Junlaphan was "mediocre" and when Akira finally won a title he defeated Pornsawan Porpramook in a fight of the year contender.

Gushiken took a huge jump up in class to face the once beaten Juan Antonio Guzman in a world title fight. Whilst Guzman might not have been amazing he was a much more experienced fighter than Gushiken and was a champion in a 2-title era.

Hiroki's first reign was pretty weak but he wasn't facing mediocre opponents just obscure ones that aren't talked about in the west. Defending against the likes of Kyung-Yung Lee was impressive (especially considering Lee took Lopez the distance much later in hi career).

How anyone can claim Pascual Perez was mediocre is another mystery, the guy is often spoken about as one of the all time greats at Flyweight. Yonekura fought him twice (losing both bouts) but certainly wasn't protected to a title.

Mitani twice fought Yong-Soo Choi, again an obscure name in the west but one incredible fighter.

Fair enough with Kameda who had 6 easy bouts before facing Saman Sorjaturong but then his next few fights were all pretty damned credible, certainly more so than what you'd see most 7 fight novices in the US or the UK facing.

The Japanese are well known for throwing folk in at the deep end, Ioka probably got pushed a little harder than normal (though Inoue will be the same) due to how excellent they were in School Boy tournaments (with Kameda it was a case of him looking amazing against a former champion in an exhibition bout)

Inoue will fight for the Japanese Light Flyweight title in August. He will be fighting Ryoichi Taguchi who is ranked #3 by the WBA and #11 by the WBO.

I'd assume after that the winner will be looking towards a world title bout (a clash with Kazuto?)

You have to go through the ringer to really no if someone has "GOT IT". What if his chin sucks. What if he folds mentally to being hit by a banger. There are too many aspects to boxing to say if someone has it after 2 fights.

Mentally he seems sound, he beat the very capable Yuki Sano 1 handed and lets be honest there aren't too many bangers at 108 or 112 (Roman Gonzalez, Hernan Marquez and Brian Viloria aside)

Also, Hajime No Ippo is the GOAT show ever.

Hajime No Ippo, one of my favourite shows ever. A must watch for any Anime/Boxing fan.

On topic, Inoue is definitely one of the top prospects out there. He is amazing. I can't wait to see him go all the way.

The poster for his upcoming fight.

Inoue (4-0, 3) out pointed Ryoichi Taguchi (18-2-1, 8) for the Japanese Light Flyweight title earlier today. On paper this is an impressive result but when you consider Taguchi entered the bout as the WBA #3 ranked and WBO #11 ranked it's even more impressive.

On the same card Ryota Murata made his debut dominating Akio Shibata (21-8-1, 9) with a 2nd round stoppage.

Good news. I'm looking forward to seeing the fight.

ippo sucks
theres literally like 1000 chapters and dude never even kisses his main love intrest

features boxers punching a tree into a hill
ippo is a terrible boxer but overcomes technique with just power and stick to it ness
ippo is basically just a mashup of every cheesy japanese cliche put in a boxing ring

on topic has anybody seen taguchi fight before? his record is good on paper this looks great but i would like to see something more tangible
