That's debatable depending on your pov. The fact that the leave side had absolutely no plan in place if they won is more than incredibly stupid, it's Trump like.

"Never thought we'd win. Wtf do we do now?" kind of thing. It's insane.
 
I think the pension thing is the best example of the failed thought process here.

Brexit supportes want out of the EU for all sorts of reasons related to sovereign independence. But the big proponent of Brexit refuses to cut his EU pension ties because he doesn't think he and his family should suffer for leaving the EU. His pension. A constant payout from the EU to personally benefit him and his family for as long as he lives. So he will maintain his personal financial connection to the EU while telling everyone else that they should sever theirs. It's comical in many ways.

Because their citizens are still going to draw from the pension, including Farage himself.

More UK retirees live abroad in the EU than the entire EU has retirees in the UK.

Could you clarify? Did these UK retirees in their pensions in the UK? If so, then they should be collecting pensions from the UK.

They will get fucked up over when it comes to trade between UK and EU, not by some fantasy war if they refuse to pay.

And there's not a single thing the US can do about that.

I'm not sure if you remember, but until last year UK was a member of the EU.

UK citizens took advantage of this, joined EU companies or worked for the state, or the EU bureaucracy, and earned EU pensions.

Also, being part of the EU, when UK 'expats" now, formerly just EU citizens, moved to other countries they would get access to EU pensions that way as well.
 
The divorce bill was first about EU subsidies in farming and such shit, now "pensions" is everyone's favorite word like that's 40billy.

So they earned their EU pensions. The UK leaving the EU should have no effect on that. And those UK pensioners receiving EU pensions that they earned should have no effect on whether or not the UK should be held liable.

Even if the UK state was responsible for just 1/4 the value of the pensions for their self created expats, it would be over $50B.
