Total Solar Eclipse

I guess we get a total eclipse in 2026 or something from where I live. I plan on eating tons of shrooms while I shine a 2022 1,000 dollar Lazer at it. I will be naked during all of this if I'm still alive.

I call it, "Slivers of sunlight filtered through tree leaves onto someone's shadow."

I'm really glad so many enjoyed this.
Usually people don't give a shit about astronomical phenomena.
My favorite two events:
Supernova 1987 A, and the multiple cometary impacts on Jupiter.

I'm hoping we get a supernova in the Milky Way before I die... unlikely.
But it'd be so awesome.
Wouldn't it have to be like 40,000 years before you die? But yeah, that would be awesome.

Also, I'm pretty sure my house gets the longest totality in the US in 2024. You are all invited for beers.

I saw Halley's comet when I was a kid. I was 8 when it passed by in 86

LOL
Supernovae occur about once every three hundred years in a typical spiral galaxy like ours. There have undoubtedly been a few that were totally obscured because they were in the plane of the Galaxy.

Just give me a bright one that can be seen in the daytime for a couple of weeks

Sweet. I was sixteen, really into Astronomy but the deep sky kind, local stuff never interested me much.
Nevertheless I was in an astronomy club and viewed it.

The one in '96 (?) that hung in the southern sky all summer was gorgeous

Any problems looking at the tail flickering?

Just think, About four thousand years ago, some villages would be slaughtering a few of their virgin daughters to appease the angry gods.

Im just glad i got to share this moment with all you sherbros!!!! :)

hey @Overpressure you seem to know your eclipse shit.

My dad tried doing the box thing where you have a hole in a box and it slowely gets covered. he said he has done it during dozens of eclipses his whole life and this is the first time it didn't work at all.

Is there any reason for this? Were we too close to the eclipse area?
He probably poked a hole that was the wrong size. Friend of mine did that.

I'm in Missouri and saw it 100% at about 1:13 pm. I even looked up at it. Didnt hurt my eyes.

Did anyone remember to take out the Fire Nation?
