Except even right wing populists believe in their own form of political correctness, it just holds different things as sacred. The same people who cry about PC have a non-negligible overlap with those who cry about any sort of language or gesture that is even remotely anti-patriotic. Or Douglas Murray saying we have freedom of speech to insult the Prophet but then right after saying that Holocaust denial laws are okay because the Holocaust is a sensitive part of European history.

For him religion is not sacred but the Holocaust is and to be fair to him to a certain extent many people are like that; we want to freedom to talk and shit on what others feel is sacred and off limits but not what we feel is sacred and off limits. For many right wingers race and sex are not off limits but patriotic symbols are.
