Mt Baker is pretty nice though:

Scary fact though is it's missing about 20% of it's peak from an eruption who knows how many 100 -1000s of years ago.

See how it has that like "second" peak to the left (in the second picture... in the first it's on the right)? Yeah, that used to be all mountain tying in with the part to the right but it blew it's gasket similar to Mt St Helens at some point and lost a good chunk of itself... and it like to let steam blast every once in awhile too so it's still active.
How could I forget about Baker? That's a really nice mountain.

I know mountains in general create really goofy weather patterns but even Whistler and shit wasn't as bad as Baker some years.

On the Arm of Shuksan you're out there skiing and it's like sunny and low 30s so perfect weather right? An hour later the wind is howling and the snow is falling UP the hill because of it and you can't see shit cause of the fog.

Brilliant, I had conditions like that in South Korea. Wind/snow blowing up. Stand facing a wall, and the wind and snow still blow directly in your face.

PNW weather in the mountains is nothing to fuck with. I got caught out miles from the car at an unclimbed cliff on the summer solstice, wearing what you wear in June, in a hailstorm-laden blizzard that nearly took my fingers from frostbite. We were almost proper fucked out there, and it was not easy to find the car. Good times.

My savior is the Pacific Crest Trail. Coming across the PCT saved me massive suffering at least 5 times.

There was a group of SF guys that frequented the bar I work at while they were up here for training and they said almost everyone uses the PNW mountains because of how crazy the weather can be for Mountain Warfare training and shit.

Absolutely. The best American mountain guides have historically graduated from the PNW, specifically Rainier, Baker, and Hood.

I remember being up there once when the glacier on Shuksan moved... sounded like a goddamn freight train using my head for a rail.

Holy shit lol

That's epic. Skiing always scared me a lot more than climbing. Was afraid of crevasses, avalanches, tree wells, etc. I've never experienced a glacier shifting like that. I'm assuming the ski area there is very close to it?

Within full view. The Mt. Baker ski area is actually on Shuksan just the "arm" of it.

You can see the glacier in this shot from the ski area.

So gorgeous. That's as nice as any view in the Alps. It must be something when that thick mass of white comes rumbling down that face. (okay that sounded kind of porn-y but still)

The avalanche guns going off is probably my favorite man made sound in the mountains.

No chance. I love alerts and being contacted by people so much that I've never owned a mobile phone.
Plenty of Mods now, so it's not like we need an "emergency response team".

Man, that would be the least cool A-Team movie ever.

That reminds me that one of the SB nutters was willing to bet his account against mine that *Clinton* would start a war with Iran. LOL!

To be fair, Clinton was shamelessly beating the war drum during the election. Hell, it was Clinton, not Trump, who made Iran a focal point of the debates.

Milo is a piece of shit.

I'll admit when he first "came to prominence" so to speak around the time of the GamerGate shit he served a purpose. To be so outrageous just in the opposite direction that it was fun to watch people get bent out of shape about the shit he said.

Now though? He serves zero purpose other than to be a putz that think he's smarter than he actually is just cause his donors allow him to spend $1000 on sunglasses he'll wear a single time.

Haha, I didn't know he ever served a purpose other than actually being a conservative talking head who looked as stupid as his opinions.

Milo, Shapiro, Crowder - I have no use for any of them. They're all dishonest pieces of shit.

I don't mind Shapiro because for the MOST part he's semi consistent and Crowder can be entertaining if you remember he started life as a comedian and potentially he just slings what he thinks will get him views.

I would say that there was zero chance of war with Iran under Clinton.

Zero? Man, I don't know about that. Remember how she was pressuring Obama to support the NATO intervention in Libya? Well Gaddafi was a heck of a lot more friendly to Western interests than is the Iranian government - and there is probably more organic political unrest in Iran than there was in Libya. Clinton wouldn't be openly and needlessly poking with moronic tweets, but the potential for subversion and intervention would always be possible.
