I have him at #1.

He's probably the most versatile film director ever imo.

He's made some legendary films.

His longevity and variety of elite level film making is pretty incredible.

Just picking out a top 5 for me is tough, in no order you got:
  • Jurassic Park
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • ET
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • Jaws
That stands up against anybody.

I do think Scorcese is right there with him and over the last 20 years has been making better movies and a top 5 from him is elite as well, just in the last 20 years you got:
  • Wolf of Wall Street
  • Shutter Island
  • The Departed
  • The Aviator
  • Killers of the Flower Moon
I'm not sure I'd put anything of Speilbergs last 20 years in an all time great list and if I'm doing an all time list for Scorcese it's very tough and could slot in WoWS or Departed but I'd go with:
  • Taxi Driver
  • Goodfellas
  • Raging Bull
  • Casino
  • Gangs of New York
So I'd give it to Speilberg for variety but Scorcese has so many elite level films I'd say I prefer him as a director.

Tough to say. Gotta be in the top five somewhere. Jaws and Schindler's List are 10/10 and can go up against any of the best one-two punches from other directors like Stone, Cameron, Coppola, Kubrick, etc. And I think Close Encounters is pretty underappreciated at this point. I think he kind of fell off after the early 90s but his descent has been pretty gradual and he still did turn out stuff that was at least good at a minimum like Bridge of Spies or Munich.

Made his share of doggy doo the last ten or fifteen years but even then not as bad as most big directors when they are in their stinky doo stage of their career.

Not as high as some would I guess, mostly because I don't personally rate any of his "serious" films that highly but from Jaws to Jurassic Park certainly a lot of great cinema.

All that money and still dresses like a retard. He had Megan Fox fired for a totally stupid reason too I guess some people are really thin skinned.

Great director, easily top 3.

I feel like he could still be making great movies, but "Hollywod think" took his balls to make anything worth a damn.

Spielberg definitely has to be in the discussion since the variety of films he directed. Scorsese is also one of the best directors of all time but he doesn't have as much variety in his film as Spielberg.

I think he's probably #1 due to longevity, variety, and having some of the most memorable movies of all time. Spielberg is great at connecting with an audience like not many people can.

Not sure, def in top 3. Dunno about the order. He has done some masterpieces though. Jaws, Raiders of the lost arc and Saving private Ryan are probably his best.

I dunno. Really high. I never sat down and ranked directors so I can’t exactly pinpoint him like that lol

I'm curious, what was the reason?
She said Michael bay is like Napoleon, and he wants to create this insane, infamous madman reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for, but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it’s endearing to watch him.”

Poor little man spielberg dont like the word hitler so he had her fired. Certain people just cant handle shit the same people had Gina Carano blacklisted and her comments werent bad either.

Never really thought about it. I enjoyed many of Spielberg's early movies. If Spielberg directed a movie I think there is a good chance it will be enjoyable to watch. He tends to make quality movies. With that said, his later movies aren't as good as his early ones in my opinion.

Damn I liken people Josef Goebbels and Heinrich Himmler on Spielberg sets all the time and he never had a problem with it.
