Television Will Smith does not like Chris Rock's new special.

Oscars or not, a man needs to defend his dignity. If someone slaps you like that you lose that dignity, so at that moment nothing else matters and fuck the show.

Dignity is completely dependent on other people's perception. The fact that seemingly more people agree with and respect him for what he did (or didn't do) than those who don't, means that he's come out of this with more dignity.

TBH, chris rock should have had more empathy and sensed that Smith was going to snap. I don't know what I would have done after being slapped like that (although I hope that I would have tried to jump on Smith and gouge his eyes out) but i can tell you that I would never roast someone until he has a meltdown. And I would have known that Will was going to do some shit when he walked up the stage like that.

There's absolutely no way he could've known Smith would be having a meltdown. Rock was literally looking at them when he cracked those jokes and Smith was happily laughing along. How was he to know that his friend, who was just seconds ago laughing at his jokes, would come up to slap him?

Well I think dignity is obviously subjective. But most of the people watching this shit certainly fall under the only business category.

In any event, even if I was alone vs 1 billion to think that it wouldn't change my opinion. If a man walks up to you and slaps you, you can't let it fly and the people who don't understand that don't matter.

He’s a comedian, it’s his job to make fun of people. That’s why the hosts of awards shows are almost always comedians, guess you have been living under a rock.

also, how exactly otherwise is rock a bitch? He took that sucker slap from someone twice his size (I’ve met both that’s a pretty accurate statement) like a man and just kept going with the show. Suge Smith slaps you like that you would probably still be asleep and unable to worship your Jada Pinkett poster.

Making fun of someone's alopecia is a bit much, but I don't really have anything against Rock for anything he said, even from under my rock.

Chris Rock is a tiny dude, who doesn't want a physical confrontation. Being weak is a definition of bitch.

A sucker slap? Lol, Will was standing in front of him, a sucker punch is one you can't see coming. Will just slapped him. Also Will understands enough about his power to apply enough without knocking a dude out. Chris did nothing but take that.

Chris is a boss, and took it incredibly well, it was a catch 22 situation and the show must go on. His behaviour was laudable.

I imagine a slap hard enough to humiliate but not hard enough to KO me would feel similar regardless of the strength of the person delivering it. I'm assuming suge smith is a strong person or something? Not sure how they or I are relevant to this.

Jada seems to be a pretty unpleasant person, but I didn't know who she was before this, I'm not a fan of Will Smith and I am a fan of Chris Rock.

You're making a mistake by reading more into what I say than what my words say, I mean what I've typed, not what you think.

Was he making fun of her alopecia though? Did he even know about it or did he just see her with a shaved head and say GI Jane?

It's like the Mike Epps skit from the TI album...

In his famous celebrity roasting hosting gig Ricky Gervais went in on Martin Scorsese for being short as that midget dude that Dana White hangs out with now. Martin Scorsese just laughed with the rest of his table and basically said yeah I'm short as fuck, what can you do. He didn't run up and do midget fu on Ricky Gervais or headbutt his nuts.

The dark side loves you all, feeding the hate.

Chris was a dick.
Will was a bigger dick.
Will attempted to contact Chris several times.
Will did a crappy apology.
Chris had some digs at him in his special.

Time to let it go and move on. Stop feeding the machine, it’s not your monkeys.

Seriously, how do you guys do this. How do you collectively convince yourselves that getting slapped like that and doing nothing is not an enormous, life-changing humiliation?

Because Rock handled it like a professional. He was being paid to host the Oscars, not throw hands with a man twice his size and strength. No one with an IQ above double figures expected Rock to retaliate physically. He would have lost, badly, and the entire show would have been thrown into chaos.

The only person humiliated was Smith. His actions were those of a cowardly bully, taking out his own insecurities on a man he knew couldn't fight back. It made him a laughing stock: the man who physically assaulted a much smaller victim, in defence of a wife who made a TV show about cheating on him with their son's friend.

I don't think people are calling him a hero, just that he's come out of this the bigger man, and gained more respect with the public while Smith lost it.

I'm legit curious what you think Rock should've done. From my POV, if he attempted to fight back, he would've been pummeled on tv and become even more of a bitch. If he had chased Smith down and then gotten pummeled it would've been even more embarrassing.

Instead he kept his cool and continued hosting as if completely unfazed by Smith. No busted lip, no bruises, no loss in composure. It was like a "Is that your best shot? Damn that's weak." to Smith. That's professionalism.

And the fact that more people seems to think favourably of his reaction than those who don't, means that he's come out of this a winner. He's won in the court of public opinion and that's all that matters to a public figure.

Rock's reaction after the slap was to grin and say, " Damn, Will Smith just slapped the shit out of me!" Which was pretty funny given he must have been shocked by what happened.

Meanwhile Smith is shouting, "Keep my wife's name OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!" On live TV, watched by millions of people. He came across as a ranting, out of control madman, while Rock kept his cool like the pro he is.

Chris rock should just sponsor mike tyson to start comedian career and have him tell jokes about jada all day long

They should remove Smith's ban and invite him and Jada to the next Oscars. Co-hosted by Rick Gervais and Jon Jones.

Make it happen, Dana!;)

At the end of the day, Jada drove Will over the edge. She embarrassed and emasculated him in front of the World. He made it worse by slapping Chris, and showing the World his level of fragility. Rock did not tell one lie in that special:
1. Why didn't I fight back? Because I was raised a certain way. I was paid to do a job. Will is Ali and I am Pookie. All truth.
2. Jada asked him to boycott Oscar job bc Will wasn't nominated. A BS request and unfair.
3. Jada DID sleep with her sons young friend, and did indeed interview Will about it. Rock says "Who does that?" "EVevryone has been cheated on, but no one has been interviewed by the person that did it"
4. Rock took a bully and destroyed him with his voice. Now Will needs to do the same with Jada, who is his bully.

So what you are being paid for and your bosses' preferences take precedence over your own physical integrity? Spoken like a submissive corporate cuck with no self esteem.

Apparently sources say he didn't know. Like I said, I don't really have anything against what Chris Rock said.

I haven't said that Will Smith should have slapped Chris Rock, just that receipts were cashed. If you, as a man, attack another man's woman in front of him, in any way, you're risking violence. It is what it is, part of our evolution. That's not the same as making fun of a dude for being short. Not saying I condone it, I'm saying I understand it. I'll put up with an inordinate amount of shit, put even a tenth of it towards my wife and I'm going to have 'words' with you.

Don't project you're own insecurities on to me.

If you'd made a joke about Tyson Fury's wife and he'd bitch-slapped you, would you have been so keen to fight back? Because that's the kind of difference in size and strength we're talking about between Rock and Smith:rolleyes:

CR should have had pepper spray in his pocket and when WS came at him he shouldve sprayed the shit out into his eyes.

Is "insecure" the go-to sherdog rebuttal for anyone who disagrees with you these days?

But you guys need to stop presenting his as a hero, he got emasculated in historical fashion. You don't come back from that.

Umm, he did come back from that, though, and Smith is the guy who looks like a bitch for being controlled by his skank wife. It's not like Smith shattered some strong man's ego, whose persona is based on being some tough guy. He hit a small dude for a mild joke that he actually laughed at, after his wife gave him a look that said "I'll record and upload the next dick I suck to Pornhub, if you don't do something, bitch", and made himself look like an insecure moron.

No, just for people who think someone smart enough not to take a beating for no reason in front of millions of people is somehow, "humiliating" themselves.

There are a lot of so called "manly" enviroments where people take hits

Military for example in some countries.
Are we please going to stop with the ridiculous mental gymnastics? This is not the military or a kyokushin gym.
