Matt Lauer fired from NBC for a single allegation of sexual misconduct-- the first in his career

You might as well be a Trumptard with your denial (on behalf of people who haven't denied them) of these claims.
Denial of which claims?
No one owes you, or the public, any evidence.
Ah, the venue defense.

While adequate as a matter of compulsion, it's not as a matter of moral virtue, and as that's the precise aim of these measures, it's hypocritical and unsatisfactory at the most basic level. Furthermore, in fact, unless they are in an at-will state, employers often do have to substantiate their terminations to a third party like labor boards in order to avoid lawsuits (such as those of discrimination). Your defense amounts to "it's none of your business; don't concern yourself with it" which I could then extend, logically, to all terminations and labor disputes.

That employer doesn't hire black people? Doesn't promote women? Is hostile to unions? Fired a bunch of libtards due to Facebook political posting? What's it to you? They don't owe you (or the public) any explanation, or evidence that they aren't discriminating.

How libertarian of you.

I've asked in other threads and gotten radio silence: Who has been accused, denied it, and been punished since Weinstein?
Jeremy Piven.

Also, those who have denied all accusations, or at least some, but not all (not those which are problematic), and have either been punished or are facing extreme social harassment and judgment, include Charlie Rose, Glenn Thrush, Al Franken, and Roy Moore. Oh, and Landis apologized for "inappropriate hugs". I never got a single tidbit of information about any accusations made against him beyond that concession.

That's off the top of my head.

That this isn't a sufficient public statement to make when you're sunsetting someone's career & reputation:

It absolutely is a sufficient public statement. They dont owe you or anyone else more of an explanation. It seems like youd need to see surveillance footage of Lauer exposing himself to a coworker to make the statement sufficient. That's absurd and no company would do it.

Madmick, INC's PR statement:

"As a result of an investigation into a complaint of sexual misconduct against Matt Lauer, Madmick Inc has decided to terminate his employment effective immediately. Below, please view a gallergy of images of Matt Lauer's penis being exposed in the workplace. Also attached is audio of Lauer climaxing as he's being whipped by the summer intern. Madmick Inc CEO, Madmick, will be available for questions at a press conference tomorrow at 2 PM to answer any questions or concerns regarding this matter."

Suddenly the private sector has absolute authority that's boundaries must be consummately respected with Sherdog liberals.

Your concession on the matter of your misreading is accepted, btw.

This also has a saucy dash of McCarthyism. And of course, by saucy I mean frightening.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyism

"It is difficult to estimate the number of victims of McCarthy. The number imprisoned is in the hundreds, and some ten or twelve thousand lost their jobs.[59] In many cases simply being subpoenaed by HUAC or one of the other committees was sufficient cause to be fired.[60] Many of those who were imprisoned, lost their jobs, or were questioned by committees did in fact have a past or present connection of some kind with the Communist Party. But for the vast majority, both the potential for them to do harm to the nation and the nature of their communist affiliation were tenuous.[61] After the extremely damaging "Cambridge Five" spy scandal (Guy Burgess, Donald Maclean, Kim Philby, Anthony Blunt, et al.), suspected homosexuality was also a common cause for being targeted by McCarthyism. The hunt for "sexual perverts", who were presumed to be subversive by nature, resulted in thousands being harassed and denied employment.[62] Many have termed this aspect of McCarthyism the "Lavender scare".[63]"
Yes, the 10-15 percent or so of men who are scumbags are finally getting called out on it, and that is certainly akin to McCarthyism. Not one story that has broken so far has shown to be likely false yet. I'm starting to think the defenders of the men here are in the wrong percentage. Either that, or ugly.

Being a communist is a nebulous concept, and also we don't police fucking political ideology in a free society. Being a sexual predator isn't a constitutionally protected right. Sorry about that.

I keep looking at this thinking it's a photoshop.

This IS a photoshop, right?

It's a comic edit from the Ellen Degeneres show apparently.

Yet more of the guilty-until-proven-innocent thinking iced with passive-aggressive white knight ad hominem.

Companies don't have to meet a legal standard, bro. Matt Lauer did that shit. All these people have money, and good lawyers. So, if they're wrongfully terminated they'll be easily capable of seeking redress.

This is all sheer comedy to me after we reached an apparent consensus as a country that "grab her by the pussy" was totally fine.

Am I really supposed to pretend I live in some land of moral responsibility and sexual equality now? I gotta pretend jokes about pinching an ass are worthy of public scorn and outrage..... AFTER we elected Donald fucking Trump president?! No. Just no. I'm not pretending this country is something it's not.

Sorry Matt, I think it's our fault as a country for letting your behavior be perfectly fine and acceptable until we randomly decided it wasn't. We let you live in a place where all of that was perfectly OK, until one day when it randomly became a reason for your career to not exist.

There's old clips being re-posted with "how did we miss this" and "old warning signs" like the shit was just recently unearthed. We've been perfectly fine with it. We've laughed at it. Only now the "outrage" has been weaponized by favor. And everyone who's aware of it is using it knowing full well why they're using it and why it's working.

Fuck that. We don't wanna address the issue of sexual power and imbalance as a country. We just wanna use these new public bullets to take out anyone we want to. And we clearly will only load the barrel when it plays favorably in the political arena. Roy Moore is being PROTECTED by our president, but Matt fucking Lauer being a sleeze was an issue that needed to be immediately addressed?!!

It's a fucking comedy.

You are completely off the rails here. You are pretending like all of these allegations are crap because they haven't presented you all the evidence. You are the Trump supporter in this case; you are completely unwilling to believe anything written. You are a nobody, NBC doesn't care who you are and owe you nothing in regards to how fucked up Matt Lauer is in the office around women. They don't have to promptly tell you all the details. It doesn't make their findings or his actions any less true because they aren't releasing the information to the public.

How you got labor laws, black people, and discrimination from that, who fucking knows?

Jeremy Piven.

So why are you crying about Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer when you could be ranting how messed up it is that Piven lost his job after being accused of being abusive by 5 women?

Buying your coworkers sex toys and saying how you want to use it on them was perfectly fine and acceptable? Poor Matt Lauer.

Nowhere in this incoherent rambling mess did you come close to making a point, or addressing how I flipped that on you. Flipped you for real.

I've been commenting on all of them.

I specifically wrote that-- if true-- how that is inappropriate.

Now, perhaps, you can explain to me why you-- someone who clearly accepts any and all allegations without a hint of skepticism, and even gets angry when others don't-- aren't outraged that there isn't talk of a criminal investigation or prosecution from the NYPD? After all, what the one co-worker allgee amounts to rape, correct? If that advance wasn't desired, then it was rape.

Why is him losing his job satisfactory to you? Why don't you want more? Could it be...that you don't really believe that accuser, either? Hmmm...

You are really off the rails Mick. Making up shit and responding to criticisms that weren't to you as if they were. Hopefully you aren't making alts, getting confused, and using them to agree with yourself.

I'm not outraged because I've never met Matt Lauer and none of my friends ever worked close with him. I have more pressing and relevant things in my life to spend my time on. I'd like to have him and the Cosbys of the world in jail but I'm not losing sleep over it.

And more jumping to conclusions about what I think and must be thinking. You truly are losing it Mick. You haven't been good since Trump, completely rustled and now you are becoming just like his biggest fans.[/QUOTE]

Look at the publicly marketed relationship Matt and his coworkers presented and sold for years to America... and then tell me the dildo story should be seen as something other than a pervy joke. A joke that WAS perfectly acceptable in the land where a show like "Shameless" is hugely popular. I'm not accepting this new found outrage, it's bullshit people are running with in mass because it's working as ammunition against enemies.

Do I think it's very likely Matt Lauer was a pervy douchebag who used his position to get laid? Absolutely. Is it likely he crossed a line in the process more than once? Absolutely. Am I supposed to assume guilt on every accusation now, and pretend that's enough reason for him to no longer have a life and career with the same people that voted for pussy grabbing as they pretend they're outraged? Fuck that.

Hollywood is getting smashed by the same uncovering of power-abuse that's been a political weapon against republicans and the church for years. That's why there's magically a new standard for behavior in the country that just spent 2 decades getting so high on reality TV it thought an orange scrotum would make a good president. Let's not pretend this has been birthed out of a nation's quest for justice, because it very clearly hasn't. And the obvious reason it is becoming a practice of sentencing without trial makes the whole act nauseating.

If Tom Hanks apologized for 1 "possibly inappropriate gesture 20 years ago" tomorrow, after being accused of something, from that day forward Tom Hanks would be seen as guilty of anything sexual he's accused of and immediately lose work. That's the atmosphere we're currently accepting and running with.

The most publicly noted figure to not simply buckle to the scrutiny immediately to save face is one of the most obviously lecherous..... and he's the one who still has the president behind him. What kind of justice are we pretending to want here as a country?

You've got an arm like John Elway throwing in that towel.

I've been telling guys since 1999 that it's career suicide to even flirt with a co-worker. For you idiot guys who view porn at work - you're next. You realize that the company may be running software that tracks keystrokes and screen images, especially if you are on a large network. Wise up, it can come back to get you at any time later, and often can be the excuse to get rid of you when the company really wants to ditch you for other reasons.

With so many companies fucking their workers over by calling them "contractors" rather than "employees" I can see the lawyers cleaning up on some tricky legal shit emerging from this cesspool.

Actions speak louder than words. Lauer sexually harassed and assaulted women he worked with. Trump is on tape saying "I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything." (which got Billy Bush fired too). If you can't see the difference between something actually happening and braggadocious hypothetical, I feel sorry for you.

Trump is cool with Bill Cosby?
