Are snakes hard to raise? Compared to something like a dog.
easy if you know their temperature and dietary needs. Most pet species are very low maintenance. Just don't get something that will grow to an unmanageable size like a Burmese because they are not suited for novice owners.

Badass. This took me down a rabbit hole and found these cool pics

This is a really loaded question because there are so many variables. Do they require as much daily care as a dog, no. Some snakes require more care than others but before anyone looks to get a new scaly friend I always recommend making sure they do a shit ton of research about the species.

Which are easiest? Which are hardest?

Which are easiest? Which are hardest?
Easiest and hardest in what respect? Some of the giant stuff is hard to keep due to sheer size. Poisonous one need no explain.some people recommnd ball pythons as a starter snake, but they can go off their food for months.

Maybe the better question is what are somethings that make them hard to raise? Aside from the obvious reasons of size and danger. Like do they get sick easy, problems with feeding, living with other animals etc.

If kept in the right environent they don' really get sick. Living with other stuff results in something getting ate. Some have specialist diets, which can be expensive and very smelly. Many people start off with corn snakes, they come in loads of different colour morphs and aren' really aggressive. Like gabe said though,if you want one,do loads of research.

Again, here's literally thousands of species of snakes. Not all are in the hobby, but I would recommend a corn snake as a first snake. They tend to be quite hardy, aren't picky eaters, have good attitudes and don't get too large.
Some tips if you or anyone are wanting to get a pet snake.
Can you handle it at its largest
Is there a local vet that specializes in reptiles (very important)
Are you willing to care for it for a long time (my friends boa just died at 36)
Are you willing to have frozen rodents in your freezer

Also when doing research look at many different websites. Hell, go to the library and take out some books

Kayaking off the coast of South Africa, sounds legit.

This is going to give me nightmares; like for real.

True story: a buddy and I were talking about this sailing trip he was taking (he sails). That night I had nightmares of diving off a sailboat into shark infested waters.

WTF are you thinking kayak fishing off the coast of South Africa? One of the stupidest things I've ever heard of.

LOL, I told you sounds legit. No way in fuck I'm getting anywhere near the water off the coast of South Africa. People do stupid shit though, its unavoidable.

Would have been able to fend it off using the poles of shit coming out of my shorts as clubs.

But really, that's a big nope.

That's actually a solid self defense mechanism. Many animals poo on predators attempting to eat them.

A guy running a tank buster fish rescue. Tank busters are fish that get huge and shouldn't be sold by pet stores. Examples are pacu's, red tailed catfish, and arowana's.
He's got over 18k gallons worth of tanks in his house and an epic mullet.
