Theft is so bad in San Francisco that Groceries are now Locked Up

So are you saying people in this thread are not pushing a narrative about CA/blue state cities being worse than other places? Bullshit proven to be bullshit; that narrative is being pushed all over the place. Are you actually reading the thread and things people post?

What they are talking with the larceny about is in large part car theft; there is a big problem with car theft. I'd rather have that than violence any day. Are you going to also make a thread about violence in Memphis, or high violence in Southern states? You guys absolutely crack me up. Move the goalpost when you are proven wrong.

I know it makes you feel good to say people you disagree with make terrible cities, but that is unfortunately not true. Blue counties make up 70% if America's GDP (look it up).
Nah I’m sticking to the subject.

San Fran doesn’t have the same issues as say a Chicago. They do have a major issue with businesses leaving. Like just in the last 3 days a Macys, Walmart, the only north face store and like 5 more Starbucks closing to add to the already huge list.

Stay in context to the actual issue. San Francisco absolutely had a major issue with theft causing a retail exodus. They also have a homeless and drug issue. I’m not saying it’s worse than other cities in other metrics.

I’m not interested in this because I’m right wing (I’m not). I’m fairly objective politically with stuff like this and I literally work in commercial real estate so this particular issue interests me. It’s a crazy thing to see happening in such a great city.

Did you get your car broken into there or something? SF is a beautiful city.
Sometimes when they break into cars they leave cool stuff behind. Seth Rogan found a sweet knife in his car when someone broke into it.

On topic they want all the stores to close. Amazon is in bed with the government and the end goal is driving all sales through a single place so they can further control you and how you act or think.

Wait, what? Who wants all the stores to close? How does this help the tax base?

The 2024 index for North America is here. Pretty good mix of red and blue state cities, but a red city state is on top. Texas cities is higher than SF. Why is no one putting anecdotes from Memphis in the thread?

Mix of Blue & Red cities at the top?

lol... Holy fuck, what are you? A college freshmen trying to act like you know what you're talking about?

There isn't a city with a Republican Mayor until you get to Miami. Southern States are filled with big blue cites where Democrats have ran and ruined them for decades.

Here's how the Houston Metro area (Harris County) votes for example.

Between this and your Failed Covid thread, You might want to stop posting for a bit and just read. Maybe learn something about how the real world works.

lol... Holy Hell at your Memphis Comment

A person like this would be murdered by locals in other countries.

Progressives are the ultimate enablers...

And we all have that degenerate family member that grandma enables.

"He's a good boy... He just needs another chance. And maybe another $500 to help him get back on his feet"

lol...

So comical

Economist Michael Clemens: “For eliminating labor mobility barriers, the estimated gains range from 50 to 150 percent of global GDP.” As of late 2021, the global GDP is over $80 trillion, which means open borders would, according to his reckoning, add $40–100 trillion in total global wealth.

What are the top five policies that you disagree with and what would you do differently?
Here's an article regarding homeless specifically with regards to California and why their policies have made it worse compared to other states.

LTIR of this issue?
- insufficient housing regulations
- relaxed drug laws
- opposing mandatory treatment for mental illness and drug addiction.

I would reverse prop 47 because it's a fucking joke. I would remove the sanctuary city umbrella for illegal migrants which hampers deportation and communication with ICE.

return to mental institutions, return to heavy jail sentences for those who commit crimes. Get the sloth off the goddamn streets where they are a blight to society and pestering those who are trying to go about their daily lives.

Oh and stop coddling specific groups and placing everyone in an identity group of victimhood. It's divisive and regressive.

I am in NYC and went to Target in SoHo to buy toiletries and the deodorant is locked up.

Definitely could use state funded mental hospitals, welcome aboard the socialism bus. We've been waiting for you.

The heavy jail sentencing doesn't work, that was a failed policy. Just about every state and community has been rolling these laws back.

Unless the mental institutions are privately owned. But who cares? Socialism of services like fire/police or the like, people accept.

But when you start demanding the same as me? no. I want to live in a system that allows me to be better than you.

As for the heavily jailed policy failing? It's not worse than what we are seeing right now.

What we have right now is a regressive dystopian society where we have to have FOOD under lock and key.

This is what you voted for.

<{hughesimpress}>
voted for in the city, the state, the country or the planet?

because its everywhere.

How did elected officials dictate items locked up in stores?

Taco Bell locations in Oakland are forced to CLOSE dining rooms indefinitely - and switch to drive-thru service and cashless payments only - amid series of robberies and unrelenting crime surge

Place is a fucking cesspool snd I love it. They treated their police especially shitty and now they are paying for it. Fuck that shithole. And fuck Taco Bell also. Went there two weeks ago for five steak soft tacos with guac and it almost $30

Same cities over and over. lol at memphis. I thought the only murder there last year was Tyre Nichols, who was brutally beaten and murdered by police. But his death was the only one that mattered.

Because Memphis has always sucked. San Francisco was a safe city and still is one of the richest cities in the world. Government policies have ruined the city.

Also the majority of those cities have been run by blue state mayors for decades now. And the mayor has much more control over crime than a governor.
Your logic here doesn't follow. Yes, SF has had more problems recently, no, the city government has not changed. When was SF conservative? Back in the 1800s? That is a failed correlation.

No, state laws and the criminal code are made primarily by the legislature and not the city. There are city policies that affect crime obviously, but not as much in terms of the actual laws around serious crimes and length of incarceration; Governers also have a lot of power to limit mayors they don't agree with (e.g. Florida). You also assume that this correlation is causal, which we don't know that it is. Could it be that large population centers are just having a lot of problems these days for complicated reasons? No, because that would ruin the narrative of blaming your problems on those you disagree with; better to oversimplify something you can't understand in a way those is positive for you.

But let's take your theme and run with it. Let's go to the state level, especially since some states have far less 'big city' population than others. Which states are the most dangerous per capita at the state level? Let's take a look.

What are the Most Dangerous States?

Surprised at the Canadian entries.

But the red state stuff is just bullshit. It simply doesn’t matter what color the state is, the bigger cities where all the crime is are always liberal. Always. For example, memphis is in a red state but the mayor is dem. Same with St. Louis and Atlanta. Its not rednecks and country folk shooting over 100k/year or murdering 22k/year(10k being black). It’s the inner city scum piling up bodies left and right.
