anybody seen Leave The World Behind?

Someone posted a scene from the movie above where a character says 'don't trust white people' so did you fall asleep during that scene or are you saying that isn't woke messaging?
And the white people weren't believing the black people owned the house. It wasn't woke it was world ending type stuff

It was kind of okay. Dialogue was forced, acting was wooden plot was disjointed. The early use of the piano theme was out of place and only made sense later. Had a good sense of tension but it didn't really go anywhere. Kind of like that scene where the wife and guy are dancing about to hook up then it just fizzles out. I watched it through which is odd for a lot of movies. Had all the hallmarks of a made for TV Stephen King movie. I'm surprised the MC wasn't a writer from maine relocating to a peaceful town for inspiration.

Did you even watch the movie?

I already said I haven't. It's just pointless having a discussion about whether or not a movie is woke or not if people are going to say 'don't trust white people' isn't woke messaging. Now I know you'll say it made sense in the context of the movie. That's irrelevant.

In a narrative, how you tell a story matters. You'll see if you watch enough movies, white racist characters are typically depicted as stupid/jealous/evil etc. There's a price to being racist for a white character - regardless of whether you can make an argument for it. And there are always harsh consequences for those characters. They often get killed, in fact.

In American History X, Derrick Vinyard's dad was murdered by a black guy while he was working in a black neighbourhood as a fireman. Derrick Vinyard has a 'reason' to be racist. So was that forgiven in the narrative of the film? No. There was a massive cost for that character. He went to prison and his little brother got killed.

That's what we mean by woke meassaging. A black character can be racist in a movie without there being any cost for it. This is the film maker's way of showing his point of view through the narrative of the film. Often times black characters with racist attitudes are actuslly depicted as the heroes of the film.

I don't normally give thorough breakdowns of stuff like this because I already know you're just going to blow it off and not address it, but there, I've explained it.

Now disregard it.

They were all in a stressful apocalyptic situation where they didn't know what was going on. Part of the message of the film was that misinformation will divide people.

The black girl who says don't trust white people was kind of a racist asshole and also her mom had likely died, and the white mom character also seems kind of racist and is obnoxious.

The white mom ends up saving the black girls life and they end up being friends.

I only want to see it because I enjoy end of the world/post apocalyptic stuff. I didn't even know Obama had anything to do with this until people got mad about the racist black wife.
the "racist black wife" ...? what?

You mean the daughter of the homeowner who was tired of being treated with hostility and suspicion (because of racism) by a guest in her own home???

Was a pretty good movie until the ending like many have said. It's totally incoherent. No resolution, or pay off, or anything. It was like they couldn't figure out how to end the movie so they just cut together some disjointed scenes.
the white mom and black daughter watching nukes hit the city was a great beginning to the end, and then they were just like "wtf do we do now?!" So they just cut together a scene of the white daughter stumbling into a high tech fallout shelter. No allusion as to what happens next. No idea what happens with either of the dads. No idea what happens to the son. Just a totally baffling way to end a movie

Stopped reading at the first sentence. You haven't seen the movie, so I won't read anything you say about it.

I didn't even know the bamas produced it

I saw Robert's Hawke Ali and some bacon thrown in and I was sold
Ya ever wonder if his success had anything to do with his last name? Hey honey let’s go see the new bacon movie!

This entire movie is like watching that scene fro prometheus where the space ship is rolling behind her and she won't move out of the way. How many things can come straight at you like that? The ships I'm the beginning, the airplanes crashing, the red leaflets falling from the sky, the tesla cars. Its like everything is gravitated toward the actors.
The pamphlets made zero sense. Why drop thousands of them on such a remote road?

And how would pamphlets written "death to America" in arabic cause a civil war in the US? You would think people would be willing to band together and help each other more if they think they are being attacked from a foreign power.

Hey we're being attacked by the muslims and north Koreans so I'm going to mistrust the people I know and hoard all of my shit.

A lot of people in the war room are real upset about it, they haven't actually seen it but that ain't gonna stop em from hating it anyways
LOL, warroom guys are the most fragile snowflakes on this site.

Anyhow, the movie kinda sucks but not for the reasons fragile warroom guys think.

Everything in the movie seemed pointless when you get to the end. That was what sucked for me.

But the character who said was just a caricature of a leftist college student complete with arm pit hair and a useless arts degree. They were more mocking of her than using what she said as a core message.

Paid guest legally renting the home from the owners* who randomly show up in the middle of the night during their stay

suddenly the property rights maximalist changes his tune when it's black people lmao. Too predictable

No, anyone in Julia Robert's position is going be WTF to anyone who shows up in that situation.

But your ultra socialist views are superseded by your racial cuckery because renters rights don't matter if the owners are black even if they are ultra wealthy
