You sound way more knowledgeable than the average MMA fan, you know what I’m talking about.Brock could not make an NFL roster because he lacked skill, not athleticism. That is, he lacked technique. And he didn't want to wait around to build his skill when he could get paid to do other things.

"He is a project with a capital P," said Scott Studwell, the Vikings' director of college scouting. "He's got physical tools, but he has a long way to go."
Most sports (fighting, NFL, etc) take skill. For NFL linemen, you need technique. Brock didn't have it, and didn't want to wait around to develop it.
Much like Greg Hardy -- or even someone like Ngannou who has been fighting as a pro for 4+ years -- doesn't seem to possess great fighting skill even though he/they are good-to-excellent athletes.
But the NFL understood Brock was a great athlete. A great athlete who lacked NFL skill.

"He's a project. Big time," Vikings player personnel director Scott Studwell said. "As much as you'd like to take a shot on a guy like him because of his athletic history, do you do it at the expense of cutting another player? Probably not. At the expense of taking reps away from a promising young player? Probably not. With Brock, it's like you're starting from scratch."
Too far to go to build up his skill level to be top-level professionally.
He always had the athletic ability though. He's a freak. Now, how he got to be a freak is a different matter. But he's a freak.
Sumo actually takes skills is the thing.a guy who holds people thinking he can beat the HW champ lol. Hes a glorified sumo wrestler. It ain't fighting.

stipe has been rocked in every fight since he got the belt.
a B level athlete would devour him.
struves like F level for fucks sake
1) it is .. as is cardio, muscle endurance etc areas nfl guys are generaly very weak in1. Sprinting isn't a niche athletic skill. Running fast is fundamental to sports.
2. When you say "NFL guys" who exactly are you talking abut? Wide receivers? Linebackers? Linemen? They all have different body types and different cardio levels, etc. No shit a 340 lb guy doesn't have great cardio. The real question is how good is his cardio compared to the average 340lb man.
3. You never adequately define "all around athleticism" other than it prohibiting oxygen masks. You say sprinters and marathoners are niche skills, but there aren't any runners competitive in both.
brock lesnar beat randy couture after only having 3 fights.
and hes not even A level
Already responded to this argument. Next
1) it is .. as is cardio, muscle endurance etc areas nfl guys are generaly very weak in
2)probably much worse than the adverage 300lb man who works out as hes geared for short bursts of power not long drawn out sessions
3) as in the same way anyone else would man an athlete that is both fast and explosive but can last
Yes both are niche sports on opposite ends of the atheltic spectrum ....nfl guys are there on the extreme of one end with short bust tire out fast end like sprinters ,sumo , sttongmen and power lifters
Marathon guys are on the other end ....not terribly explosive but able to work for amazing displays of sheer muscle emdurance and cardio etc.
