All things considered, I was happy with his performance. The first 30 seconds were intense. The kid went for a trip and my son defended and got him off balance. The hope spot!

But I told him last night I think he's gonna have a good season. Physically he looks great. He's strong as fuck, quick and lean. Mentally he's excited and looking forward to matches. Spiritually he's locked in too. As a dad you can kind of "manipulate" your kids for good. I always tell him he's more than a wrestler, I remind him of all the other things I love about him and remind him he's a follower of Jesus. There's a bigger a picture at play here and he has a role to play in it. It sounds counterproductive because you would think he'd have to solely focus on wrestling and that's his whole identity but that doesn't work especially for my son.
