But after reality sets in and they are now amping up their push, it becomes more apparent this is happening and a cease will called, Russia will get what it wants, tensions will die down, and a bunch of money will have been made by the ruling class.

And even if Russia is cut off from the west, they will still be making money off the dollar, even if they aren't trading to the west, because oil is traded in the dollar. The only way to stop that would be to take oil off the dollar. If you do that, the dollar is not really the reserve currency for the world.

That is why the federal reserve chair just this week is talking about taking how there might be a second/alternative reserve currency emerging and that the dollar does not need to be the only one.

Once that happens, we can no longer keep printing money, raising these debt ceilings, etc. The middle class can no longer even buy a house or car right now. If the dollar loses its power, that is going to only increase.

the analysts he talked to had interesting points, overemphasis on navy spending, possible corruption in defence industry, basic unguided ordenance, very little planning time etc. the second guy seems to think russia will now have to step up their air assets and be more organised going forward.

You're assuming that Ukrainian armed force ranks don't grow over the next few months. It's a nation of 40 million people that's now like 98% hostile to Russians. Even if Russia were to occupy it, that would take a few hundred thousand Russians - officers, MP, soldiers..etc.

Estimates right now are that Russia has suffered 10,000 dead. Casulaties are obviously higher. When you couple that with an economy that will be annhihilated over time, a ruble (which is what Putin pays his soldiers in) worth nothing and absolutely no end in sight, this is a catastrophy for Russia/Putin.

I read somewhere that Ukraine is offering $40k to Russian soldiers who wish to defect. I think the West should up that figure to 100k a man - asylum and safety. 20k Russian soldiers could defect and it'd only cost $2B. Would never happen but honestly, it would be the ultimate show of economic power.

First, Biden only put on sanctions after it started, despite also saying they know sanctions take months to be effective. So why did he push to filibuster them in early January as they were getting this intel, or throughout the entire build up.

Second, both France and Germany waited until the last minute to sanction them as well, only doing it cause we pressured them.

Bottom line is sanctions won't stop this inevitable outcome.

Meanwhile the headlines are "Wow, Russia says these sanctions are an act of war, blah blah"... meanwhile we are still buying their oil, in the dollar, and buying/investing in their assets, and also letting redistribution of wealth among their own country. These sanctions only hurt the normal civilian. Meanwhile, they are all hedging the turbulant markets.

Again, the west said they are not getting involved, it is only a matter of time before this is over. The only people paying the price are Ukrainians and Russian civilians, along with the same serf/civilian class around the world, which is why they are saying this conflict is causing inflation around the world.

Meanwhile, all the the companies can make money off oil being $150 a barrel, the military industrial complex going to build up in the after math of this, all the banks and financial institutions making.
