Trump to NATO: "Germany is totally controlled by Russia"

Damn.

He's starting trade wars and attempting to divide all these countries against each other while inching towards dissolving NATO.
Bull in a china shop negotiating technique. What could go wrong?

Why in the world would anyone find it "odd"? Yes, countries who share borders with adversarial states (and calling Greece/Turkey "adversarial" is a MAJOR understatement) have a tendency to up their military spending. So...?
b/c the countries in Europe w/ stronger safety nets (welfare states) than those countries don't meet the threshold...

weird how that works too

you're also negating the entire pt of the Pact/Alliance and the pt of the 2% threshold...if one gets attacked then they all do, hence the equal spending requirement to ensure others earn keep. Except they dont

Michael Jackson was damn famous in his prime, people literally fainted at the sight of him (only him and the Pope do that IRL, this isn't a sitcom)

i just meant like right now 2018, everyone knows who Trump is right? i mean he was mad famous before, but now, good lawd. The infamy
80 million Twitter followers...

The left loves their gay sex analogies. Watch for it for a day and you'll be struck by how often they do it.

Actually the left is more comfortable with homosexual themes and is not afraid tha talking about it will turn them gay unlike our friends on the right.

You mean they're more comfortable using gay themes as an attempt to offend people.
So progressive!

we know how uncomfortable and offended you get if you see a rainbow colored whatever... lol

I'd be a bigger event not just because he's Trump but also because it'd be the untimely death of the President of the United States.

LOL at Trump being a bigger catalyst of change. You have no idea what MJ has done for minorities (mostly black people). Prior to Michael Jackson, MTV did not show any music videos made by black people. We're talking 80's era. They actually didn't want to air Billie Jean but President of CBS Records threaten to yank all of his music videos from MTV's playlist and publicly denounce them in the media. MTV relented and started airing Billie Jean. It was so popular and in demand that they aired it heavily, then he made Thriller video and become a worldwide superstar. The man only destroyed barriers and forged racial equality for black/minority musicians but yeah Trump is doing more and blah blah blah.. lol.
tbf he had the Rock With You video from Off the Wall, but that war prior to MTV

They did play All Night Long by Lionel Richie too but i think you're right, i didn't now about this, but i'm struggling to come up with early videos they played. "watching me' by Rockwell?

You haven't explained yourself. Why would anyone find it odd? It's obvious. Greece has been at odds with Turkey ever since it became independent and they have waged warfare against each other half a dozen times since then. Estonia has had territorial issues with Russia and a fair amount of Russian military exercises right next to its border.

Also, Greece has one of the most robust safety nests (relative to the size of it's economy, of course) in all of Europe. No weird correlation to point out at all.

Your post reads like it's coming to some major insight when all you've managed to do is state something painfully obvious (i.e. close, identifiable foreign threats lead to higher military spending).

Isn’t it agreed that the 2% threshold must be met by 2024?

Greece's economy failed, it couldn't pay pensions, had to be bailed out twice

Uh what?

Not sure about "watching me". Billie Jean was actually released late in '82 under Thriller. The single came out in Jan '83. All night Long wasn't released till August of that year.

yeah I didn't know about this until much later (definitely after wiki invention lol). The sheer fact that MTV didn't air "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" "Rock with You" is mind boggling. Both hit #1 on the billboard charts in '79 but I guess that wasn't good enough for MTV in '81 and '82 (MTV started in '81).

Oooh, charts!!

This is a good opportunity to enlighten (or remind) so many of the catastrophic economic failure inevitable to Communism/Socialism:

yes, but only 5 of 29 have met that goal recently and it doesn't appear that many others are remotely attempting

However it was already a preexisting Guideline prior to the 2014 meeting that they had 2% spending and since most just blatantly ignored that, they all 'pledged' to meet in 10 years. It already existed though.....

I'm aware of that. It's safety net is still one of the most robust even after reforms. It's also irrelevant your original point: b/c the countries in Europe w/ stronger safety nets (welfare states) than those countries don't meet the threshold...

Greece directly contradicts that statement, even now.

Again, clarify what are you trying to convey.

I hope all you guys know he means German energy reliance on Russia. OP stated oil, but not natural gas.

The new pipeline is a natural gas pipeline.

Trump is correct that Russia owns Germany's energy requirements and Germany is reliant on Russia. (Owned I guess)

You all kinda look silly trying to make it sound like trump is wrong here. Easy to see how people are leaving the left and even putting up with a loud mouth reality star because the left lives in some fantasy land

yep, this

Harsh words from Trump, but he is not completely wrong. Pretty impressive he spoke that out. Didn't read the thread, but the GDP has nothing to do with it. As you guys should no, Germany has no much natural resources. So they build a Russian pipeline, the north stream 2, which will guarantee cheap and efficient gas supply for decades. One the on side they trash talk Russia, on the other hand they make new fundamental deals with them. Sometimes Merkel isn't that stupid ;) Russia is already their biggest energy provider and of course they will be with this new project even more dependent from them on the energy sector.

Ukraine criticised Germany because of that very strongly, so like most EU countries.

LOL at these cute little 2-3 trillion a year gdp countries. Let them play in the sandbox with each other while the adults BBQ

Or maybe we can re-funnel some economical aid to these NATO countries to help spur this defense spending a bit? we gave $3.1 billion to tiny ass Israel in 2014 alone. Why da fuck are we supporting Israel so much is beyond my understanding... At least the NATO countries are required to help us if called upon... :/

How do you know that? I'd love to hear your case.

some rainbow colored sign with a veiled joke only adults would get and you lost your shit over it. it was quite humorous seeing you get so worked up about nothing...
