First hw champ in UFC and hw champ in pancraseKen is the most hyped fighter in the UFC. He was terrible and they even made up a superfight title for him... He knew how to speak to the cameras, something the UFC was looking for at the beginning. Tito destroyed him in the second fight and he cried so much they gave him a third, took another beating!
Edit my badLose to Bas Rutten?
Beating Severn was huge at time and first to fight for hw champion ship ken was underdog too and ken out wrestled the Greco masterKen Is a legend, but i dont think he has a defining win.
When frank beat tito, tbh it was one of the craziest things, the way frank looked, the way he moved, the reflexes, conditioning and figthing sprit and not to mention technique, Frank was the best there ever was; i followed ken' carrer and expected alot, worlds most dancerous man yadayada. Ken looked cool and was strong as hell but never really had a meaningfull win. I guess he smashed ryoce in the rematch but never got the win so it was always missn somthing with ken.
Which he learnt from kenKen: roids
Frank: roids + skill
Still he learnt from ken pretty much everythingHe’s a totally different human being with different genes?
A while back someone made a thread about how these days you don't see a whole lot of vicious ground pound finishes perhaps like back in the day, then it got me thinking.
When it comes to Ortiz vs Shamrock, most of you know how it ended, and it just puzzles me that Ken Shamrock is probably a better, stronger, less well rounded version of Lion's den product, but Ken Shamrock got his shit pushed in with Ortiz on top of him GNP, but Frank Shamrock didn't really get much damage.
If you watch the fight, it doesn't look like there's anything really different that they do...
Sherdog Holmes, get your little grey cells working
LaughableNot really relevant because both of them (Bas and Frank) were pretty green back then.
And it was under Pancrase bitch slapping rules.
Ken was much more experienced at that time.
Basically, Ken was the only super strong man who had a basic command of submission grappling.
Once everyone else learned a little bit about it, Ken really had no way of winning fights against decent opponents.
Ken would have gotten absolutely destroyed by the Bas or Frank that fought in the UFC.
Only to hardcore unfortunately UFCblackballed him and most of their fans have no idea what he did so what legacy ?Frank got out before the game caught up. Kept his legacy in tact.
Frank was a real martial artist. Ken did some martial arts but was more interested in selling himself as a brand.
Frank - real
Ken - fake
