Sean went on Mighty Mouse's Youtube saying he'll be at UFC 298 and that He Wants to Fight For Double Champ Next If Topuria wins

Anyone else getting tired of champs wanting Double Champ Status without properly defending their belt?

he is a decent fighter, still cant stand the guy tho. Too fake.

I think everyone is getting tired of it, it's a quicker way to stamp a "GOAT" status and the UFC keep allowing it even tho it derails divisions(just look at the current state of lightweight).
The truth is, it's a lot more impressive to defend your belt multiple times and clear out the top guys as much as you possibly can.

And bantamweight has a decent amount for O'Malley right now(if he beats Chito) with Merab and Sandhagen.
There's also guys like Yadong and Umar on their way up there too.

All these double champs are silly. They almost all cherrypicked the time to fight a certain person who was champion.

Never saw anyone not named BJ Penn hunting for Georges' belt when he had it. Didn't see anyone hunting for Silva's belt when he had it. Didn't see anyone hunting for Jon's belt when he had it.

They need to just close the door on these fights unless the champs of BOTH weightclasses have like 5 title defenses+.

FUCK OFF with this "double champ" shit.
It's meaningless until you defend your belt for a sustained period of time, and it also holds up the division(s) for no good reason.

Clear your division out first then we can talk about "super fights" and "moving up".

Until then, stop trying to take shortcuts to become one of the "greats", just defend your belt over a sustained period and your legacy will be greater than a guy who moved up and won the belt then lost it immediately anyway.

It's just cringe.
