One thing I've noticed when my BJJ friends watch my Judo class is they are surprised how fast I transition into groundwork from a throw.
I've noticed that when they try my Judo class, they are lost after getting thrown onto their back, and how fast I'm able to transition into a submission...
Damn I can't wait to get in the gym, I want to throw someone around! My yoko tomo/tomo nages are getting pretty good. It helps being proficient on my back when the throw fails!
I train in CSW and I'm also a Judoka shodan and BJJ blue. It's great to do since it's nogi specific and they have a combat philosophy to the approach. My coach will add strikes or show you positions that make it an advantage if strikes are present.
Not to mention, it is all about attacking...
NEVER BRO!!!
I'll wear my Moskito gi every time I go to BJJ...but only because I teach Judo right before practice.
They tried to sell me a Ricky Bobby gi, but I couldn't do it man, it felt so light and wimpy (on top of the obnoxious logos).
...Or maybe, I'm afraid that I would end...
Been around, trying to fit in at a new job and trying not to uchimata everyone I dislike. I'm not in jail yet, so I keep my ippons at the club :)
I also got my 1st stripe on my blue. I'm sure that makes me invincible to white belts!
Can't be as bad as the white-blue belt who tries to survive by stiff arming and blocking your hip with their arm! :icon_cry2
They look at you at the end of the round like...I totally hung with that black belt!
I had a big boy Yonkyu that wanted to do some open mat with me yesterday. We did a 30 min warm up and a hour of 10 min rounds, 3 to 5 min breaks.
I used the time to get my cardio training in and to focus on transitioning from throw to Juji. No matter how he landed I would transition to pin...
