Was Khabib Playing or is he Really that One-Dimensional?

I watched a guy who just stood in front of Khabib for 25 mins, and all he could do was flick out a jab and hold him against the fence.

Khabib must of been playing.
Khabib's (26-0) the Champ, Conor the Chump.

Looked to me like he was nervous about having the gas to wrestle with the same intensity for 5 rounds. Clever enough gameplan to wear Iaquinta down first and then take a couple rounds standing. Khabib's jab looked ok part of the time, but he also looked very hittable at times and there were many things a top striker could have taken advantage of. An odd, flat kind of performance considering he won clearly.
A top striker like Barbosa.

I wouldn't call him one dimensional but he's always been a specialist. I think Khabib showed decent striking ability but he needs to work on his defense, he looked very hittable.

Not sure how you could really condemn him for his fight, he won every single round easily and was never in any danger and you have to take into consideration everything that's happened in the past few days it's been exhausting being a fan.

That's why he got hit so much more than Al? Did you sea Khabib's face?

He completely dominated the fight and won every round. People are grasping at straws just to discredit Khabib for not mauling him.

I think that's because Khabib had 1 day to study Al Iaquinta's tapes, and 0 days to actually practice technique to counter him (you don't spar in the final moments at risk of getting injury). You think he was ever watching Al fight before last 2 nights? He's been studying Tony and Conor extensively. Tony also has a different build than Al. He's lanky, meaning it'll be simpler to slip in a submission around the neck whereas Al's neck is barely there and Khabib struggled to sink it in. He's also taller, so he can't crouch down like Al did to minimize takedown attempts.

This fight does give people some false hope, which is good. Maybe people will be interested to challenge him for once.
Lol khabib fights everyone the same he did the exact same thing bhe did against barboza except he gassed and al was slipping out of those shitty single attempts

He's 26-0.
I'm not even a Khabib fan, but to shit on him for this performance is ridiculous.

He's unbeaten, for fucks sake. That would mean every other fighter he fought is more one-dimensional. <45>

What a ridiculously stupid conclusion!
That is just not how fighting works

Could you imagine how people would react if conor had beaten Al to get the belt ? Lmao khabib vs Al is the most pathetic title fight ever

He excels in the gnp, his stand up game will lose him the belt

If there's anybody out there who is one dimensional, it's Conor:
  • grappling: non-existent;
  • wrestling: non-existent;
  • BJJ: non-existent.
The f*ck out of here with the "Khabib is one dimensional" bullshit

I agree......but Conor is responsible for this shit.
Don't worry though, we have a true Champ now.

You forgot the most important one.........Zero cardio. If Conor does no get the KO in the first and maybe the start of the second, then he is done.

I think the UFC got New York to pull Holloway for some BS reason when they realised how in shape he looked and how easy his cut was going.

No question, he would have fucking destroyed the Khabib who fought last night.

I get saying he was 'messing around' by not going for takedowns in 3 and 4 (not my read but whatever) but while his striking offense looked quite decent his defense looked absolutely atrocious.

he decided not to finish him on the ground!? That is just laughable and based on what? How he finished all the other top guys he took down straight away? Oh wait that is only MJ(that just got submitted by Elkins!)

It is what it is, a dominant victory but one in which he showed some holes that a better more well prepared fight could of maybe taken advantage of.
Only the blind fanboys that try to make out he’s perfect and unbeatable are struggling to grasp this.

His always been like that, his striking was never that good.

TJ vs joe Soto
Rousey vs Carmouche
Holm vs de Radimane

But yeah it’s ridiculous that this was for the LW belt

I think we forget that MMA is a mixture of fight disciplines where each one actually does take a lifetime to get good at. Boxing, clinch fighting, wrestling, ground fighting, all of them are full time jobs to truly master. Which means when you have a phenom wrestler, there's limits to how refined their striking offense and defense can be when they have all the other aspects to master. Khabib has effective jabs along with unorthodox, but very effective in MMA, striking and movement. His defense is not top notch for MMA at the moment, but he has other tools he can use to stop great strikers from capitalizing on it. Clearly he's not any more one dimensional than Conor; that seems self evident by now.
