"I never done 5 rounds of mma sparring in the gym for $500 Alex"
Fought hard, didn't fold in multiple bad positions, defended multiple takedown, got hit with a sneaky angle pick then got caught in a transition. Simple as that, there was not quitting.
Hell no, WEC was literally the UFC of lower weight classes and wasn't even a regional promotion. Look at most of the lower weight ATGs in the UFC and you'll notice basically every one of them came from WEC.
WEC was fire.
Think what Ariel is trying to get at is Conor isn't a pull out merchant and if he did indeed pullout it's probably something serious. I know the old Conor is long gone but looking at his track record he's always made weight (even witb the horrific fw cut) and has never pulled out.
In regards...
Yep, it was obvious even back then that Jon used his stretched fingers in combination with his reach to stop guys from entering range to throw. Basically "you can move forward, probably take a finger to the eye, and still won't hit me because of the reach. Or you can stay at range while I pick...
NGL it was fun every Conor fight was endless threads on how he was gonna get exposed and then he wins spectaculary and his opponents magically became bums.
My favorite was Alverez. On sherdog he was this gritty veteran with solid striking and the wrestling to grind Conor out with ease. Alverez...
First clip the left, lead uppercut, left combo was slick. He used to use that combo quite often and it's cool to see him go back to it. Plus it looks like he's leaning towards his old stance more then the boxing centric one he adopted ofter the Floyd fight. Hands look pretty quick considering...
No respect for a wmma OG. Meisha out there fighting in Bodog Tournament and Strikeforce since the mid 2000s. Was never a huge fan but man let her get whatever she wants, still pulling wins in 2023. She's got more time in the cage then most male UFC fighters at this point.
This. Unionization is the reason we have the labor laws we have today. One union in an industry can help the entire industry (semi-localized) as private companies have to compete with union jobs for labor in the same field. It raises the bar across the board.
Unions ain't perfect, but go look...
Can't really shit talk Tate. She's been fighting since the Bodog Tournament days. She's a wmma pioneer and it's crazy to see her even get a win considering her mileage and age.
Plenty of WMMA fighters started a decade after her and have already washed out of the UFC.
I think Conor went into that delusional that he could actually beat Mayweather in a full boxing match. So to offset his suspect cardio he wasn't throwing bombs. That boxing match was the height of Conor stardom and ego.
To be fair in the UFC it was never really his raw power that finished guys...
This shit is why I feel like Ali is in bed with the UFC. With a roster so large there is no way there isn't some sort of collusion with the UFC brass.
I'd be very interested to see the contracts for all fighters under Ali for the last decade.
Idk why so many people wrote him off prior. His UFC debut against Henrique was probably the best example of just how clean Ngannou can actually box. That finishing combo against Henrique, ending with that lead uppercut was probably some of the cleanest HW combos we've ever seen.
He 100% fell in...
In all reality this was more because Volk is a manlet then anything else. He had a solid guard up, but since Islam's hips are basically at Volk's chest level the kick easily glided over the guard with full power intact.
A 5'11 Volk wouldn't be in this situation.
This. Taking down Usman is no joke. The guy had the highest TDD defense in the sport prior to this fight. Getting Usman down 4 times in 3 rounds isnt exactly light work.
Khaz needs to stick to 3 rounders lol.
Yep cause his lifetime of grappling skills and knowledge go out the window with a short notice fight......
Full camp Usman.....with 5 rounds, yes I agree he'd probably win. I don't think the 3 round fight would go much different with a full camp Usman. Fresh Usman got straight out maneuvered...
Usman has great sub defense and we've never even seen him in a real position to eat GNP or get subbed lol. Usman hasn't been subbed since his 2nd pro fight like 11 years ago.
Khaz did get a solid sub attempt in, but Usman spiked him into the floor.
I swear it's like people forget how good...
