Xenforo Cloud has scheduled an upgrade to XenForo version 2.2.16. This will take place on or shortly after the following date and time: Jul 05, 2024 at 05:00 PM (PT)
There shouldn't be any downtime, as it's just a maintenance release. More info here
This is actually a great point. Boxing builds stars the right way. And if you want to keep it in the MMA world, PRIDE knew how to build stars. You do it slowly and you do it by giving potential star fighters winnable fights. Who doesn't love going back and watching Wanderlei Silva and Cro Cop...
Overeem doesn't exactly take a punch well these days. Doesn't even have to be a big punch. Just any type of contact with his chin and the fight is just about over. He's never been a fighter that's come back from any type of adversity. The second things start to not go his way, he folds.
Cro Cop and it's not even close. At least with Shogun, you can look to the Liddell fight as a highlight. With Big Nog, you can look to the Couture fight. With Cro Cop, you really have nothing but mediocrity. Some less than inspiring wins against lousy opponents and a bunch of highlight reel KO...
Crazy that this fight was 10 years ago. People spent years salivating over the possibility of that fight somehow happening one day. Hard to believe so much time has gone by.
Back then, UFC cards were still actual "events." You spent weeks, maybe months, with certain fights/cards circled on...
Layne Staley had the whole package for me. Power, technique and most importantly, emotion. Yeah, Chris Cornell's voice could peel paint off the walls when he was in his prime. But Layne just had the most unique sounding voice.
Growing up in the 90's, Alice in Chains basically got me through...
I almost threw the remote at my TV when Gray asked Porter "So how long do you think it'll take to recover?" in regards to his hand injury. The fight just ended and Gray wanted to skip right through the examination and diagnosis process and go straight to recovery time. The absolute worst.
For me, it's probably Anderson Silva. Jones is/was great to watch, but there was just something that was almost beautiful about Anderson's style when he was in his prime. It just looked smooth and effortless. I never really got that same feel when watching Jones fight.
Can someone tell me what there is to look forward to in the UFC? A particular fighter or fight. I don't see anything in the pipeline whereas boxing has a bunch of big fights/fighters coming up to look forward to.
I never thought I'd see the day where I'm unable to come up with one fight I'd like to see. That can't be a good sign. I literally can't think of one fight that I'm interested in seeing at this point. Back in the day, there were always dozens of fights that I was just dying to see. Or when...
When I think of "kneestomp," I picture a fighter lying down and his opponent stomping downward on his knee, which is parallel to the mat. What we're talking about is more of a kick than a stomp. Anyway, I don't like the move but at the same time, I also cringe whenever a fighter grabs on to...
For me, a great boxing match always beats a great UFC fight. I've been a fan of both for a long time now, but there's something more..."epic"...about a great boxing match. In boxing, you tend to have back and forth wars when it comes to the great fights. In the UFC, that opportunity doesn't...
Cro Cop - Gonzaga. Not even sure there's a close 2nd. I knew something looked a little "off" in his first fight against Eddie Sanchez and I was nervous for this fight against Gonzaga. All I wanted in the world was for Cro Cop to destroy Couture and get that UFC belt. Such a crushing moment...
I'd be concerned about Rousey's future in the UFC. Chicks are a different breed. A lot of male fighters are never the same after a KO. Who knows how Ronda will react to this. I feel like she was already well on her way to transitioning to a life after the UFC. She could very well come back from...
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that women actually fight in the UFC. Nevermind the fact that a woman is the most popular fighter in the UFC.
This has to be the latest the main event will start on a PPV, right? It appears we still have one more crappy fight between two guys I've never heard of and then Nog/Shogun. We're easily looking at 1:15 for the main event to actually start.
