For me, Johnathan Brookins.part of it was me being dumb enough to listen to the hype around the Armenians on the show and their “world-class-judo, part of it was just me wanting to see the chill, hippy dude kick ass.
I wasn’t expecting a championship run or anything like that, but a respectable...
HoF selection is even more subjective than judging. Whether or not Miller belongs will depend entirely on each person’s view of what the Hall of Fame is or should be. Personally, judging by people already in, I think it would be hard to deny him.
I think I am now a fan of Themba Gorimbo. I hope he at least has enough success to give his family the kind of life he wants to. Oh, and lots of Cheetohs.
This is a majorly flawed analysis, the authors essentially ignore BJJ except with a nod to submissions. All positional grappling is lumped under wrestling. I’m no expert in either wrestling or BJJ, but doesn’t the latter include an awful lot of positional grappling?
Also, their assignments of...
I’m rooting for Hill, Godinez, Kowalkiewicz, and Silva, though I will be neither shocked nor particularly upset if most of the fights go the other way.
A little bad blood can spice things up, but it's certainly not necessary for me. To the best of my knowledge, there was little to no bad blood between Lawler and MacDonald, and that may have been the most intense fight I've ever seen, just as a case in point.
I'd say we saw both sides of this coin in Makhachev versus Volkanovski. Islam as the wrestler with striking defense, Alex as the striker with takedown defense.
“We’ve seen this before.” Except that he has set the UFC record for consecutive first round knockouts, which, by definition, means we’ve never seen this before.
Sorry, low body fat percentage does not equal cardio. Remember Cain Velasquez? In his admittedly short prime, he had some of the best cardio ever at heavyweight, but was always a bit pudgy. Ngannou is a physical specimen, but gassed hard in the first Miocic fight. If you include other weight...
So, basically what you’re saying is that you want to almost completely eliminate the submission grappling aspect of MMA? Because that’s what would happen. Under your system, completely out grappling your opponent would count for nothing if you don’t actually get the submission. If he lands...
Personally, I feel any attempt to fix MMA judging should start with shit canning the ten-point-must system. For one thing, I think we’d likely get a lot less boxing crossover judges who don’t understand MMA.
Did you see Romanov versus Volkov? I swear, it looked like Romanov gassed after his FIRST takedown attempt. Perhaps they should match the two of them, whoever can still move after the first round wins.
